How hard is it for a shaman to obtain their epic? Is the majority of it soloable? I know for soloing/grouping it is one of the best items you can get because of the stats and the mana free dot.
All you really need is faction and a child's tear to do the final fight. You can max out the faction solo. You need a group for the final fight, and you need to get the child's tear in a Plane of Fear raid (or get someone to hand one in for you). The child's tear drops often in Plane of Fear.

It's worth doing the black dire fight for the sow boots too imho.
Actually, if you got the force the shaman epic is a pretty fun quest to follow through all the way.
If you're only interested in obtaining the item then Estu's advice is good.
The shield of falsehood is very good as well, and soloable IIRC.

Very solo-able. I believe you get it as a reward for turning in Woe+Envy and Shield of Marr. Just camp out in Rathe Mountains, kill the brothers and turn it into wisp in WK for shield. Receive gem to go to Emerald Jungle and talk to true spirit there. Leads to Black Dire quest and CoM books.:D
