View Full Version : Ginelin's BP Dilemma - Vote please
Farzo

Hi, Server
tl;dr
Ginelin gave stuff away, wants it back.
Want's his Ikky BP back!
Poll to what I should do:
http://strawpoll.me/1864722
Please read vote rules in post below!
Poll closes in 1 weeks time.
Long story:
I was in MM hanging near the entrance kicking stones with my level 20 somthing Paladin waiting for a group spot approximately a week ago when Ginelin zoned in and come up to me and asked if I was new, I said "yes, about 3 weeks new" ( which is the truth, just came back from 2 years away from blue and started on Red ).
I had saved up all the bronze I found while levelling my Enchanter and saved up 500pp and bought a spiffy Mithril 2hs -- twinked I thought! Not he thought, he than handed me a bunch of items saying he was quitting. Did some /oocing telling people that he had given me x items and called for more people to come get the rest of his items.
I thought wow what a nice guy! I am now set to level on! I thought what a great way to quit a game, and asked him why he was quiting: he gave his reasons.
Approximately 4-5 days later he logs on to his other toon and starts giving items out to other people, but here is where it gets a bit murky, 10-15 hours later he logs on and starts to pm me asking for one of the items back ( Ikky bp )! also been just the most expensive item he gave me and not the rest.
I told him, how do I know it's the real Ginelin and not his friend who is logging in to try and /reclaim some items for his own gains - I asked him a few questions about the events and he responded to them correctly to as they had played out. I also asked him why the change? so quick? he said he wanted to come back and play with friends
My response was to say let me think about it; he has since promptly with in 10-15mins of me logging in sent me tells asking what the go is.
Should a kind deem be repaid with a kind deed back? or should this be taken as an Indian giver? or a smart friend who has been given Ginelin's account taking an opportunity to gain more then just an account.
Please vote above.
Poll closes in 1 weeks time.

Vote rules:
3 options:
1. Give him the bp = he gets it.
2. Sell bp +twink/dont give bp/sell bp and give 50% = all added together with the highest vote steam been the action taken.
3. Dont give a fark.
If option 1 gets 6 votes and options 2+3+4 = 5 votes he gets it. However if options 2+3+4 = 7 votes and say for example the sell and give 50% is the highest then that's the action taken.
Tie-breaker: (option 4)
If the final vote is tied 1 week from the original time stamp of op...then the bp will be given to a new player.

It became yours once he gave it to you. If you give it back I would consider that being nice. I definitely would not say you owe it to him to give it back.
That being said, you'd be no worse off than before you met the guy if you gave him that item back. In fact you'd still be way ahead from the other items he gave you and the time spent using the regen BP.

One item isnt worth it. Just give it back and move on with your life. If you want it however, keep it. This kid should just let it go anyway. Shit its a video game people!

why even have this poll. you damn well know people are going to be rude and vote to hold onto his shit. If the guy gave you that much stuff and was that nice to you - be a human and help him out. Why would you ever even put this up to a poll? not able to make an adult decision yourself?

I'd give it back.
Also I would not base my decision on the outcome of a poll on this forum.

I don't think he thought this through very well.
After this is over, if he keeps it, it will be public knowledge.

Vegemite and Greybeard are the same characters. Ive group with you before on Vege and you seemed pretty cool. I do not understand why you would make this a joke publicly and why you would make some guy who helped you out feel like a jerk. If someone gave me all these items and asked for something back in good faith. Come on man...don't turn a blind eye on someone who helped you big time.

Sounds like OP was hoping for a cop-out by getting the community to vote in his favor.
Time to reroll to an anon toon over an ikky bp amirite?
Picked up a BoH someone was ground xfering once and gave it back without hesitation despite needing the upgrade over my shitty sionachies. Guess some people can't handle the lure of the pixel tho.

that's a completely different scenario than one where a guy says "here have this item"
Then weeks/some time later says no I want it back.
I remember in live a friend had given me a really nice haste belt; it was my first haste item actually and I loved it, being a 2handed wielding shadowknight.
One day I logged in and the item was gone; he claimed ot have no knowledge of it. I petitioned the GMs and they had said thatat x time I had handed it over to his character. Dude logged into my acct and took it back.
Now we were best and still are really good friends, but I still hold that against him because you don't do shit like that.

I didn't claim the scenario was identical. But both instances come down to whether you want to be a scumbag over pixels on elf sim now that a promise was made to return the item if the votes favored it.

Sorry, been out of town working:
Rules are stated below in quote fro 2nd post in thread:
Vote rules:
3 options:
1. Give him the bp = he gets it.
2. Sell bp +twink/dont give bp/sell bp and give 50% = all added together with the highest vote steam been the action taken.
3. Dont give a fark.

Tie-breaker: (option 4)
If the final vote is tied 1 week from the original time stamp of op...then the bp will be given to a new player.
Give him the BP!
32 votes (38%)
Don't give him the BP!
27 votes (32%)
+
Sell BP and twink yourself out! (Jboots+Jewellery)
10 votes (12%)
= 37
So it's 32 votes for him, 37 against with the winning option been: don't give him the bp.
wont be on for the next week too due to work and an exam.

Vegemite and Greybeard are this person on the forums named farzo. His enchanter was a douche and no one liked him. He got lucky someone did not know who Greybeards main was. They gave him gear and of course he refuses to help someone out who helped him TREMENDOUSLY.
You know what they say a Zebra never loses his stripes.

Didn't read through the entire OP, but you should give it back unless the person in question is an asshole/wronged you somehow. You don't have to, but I like to think the positive karma and potentially even a new friend to watch your back is worth the cost of the BP.

^ Of course - like I said to him in the beginning; " let me think about it."
But he's now linking my anon alts names to my main; calling me names; making shit up about how I am unliked (not that is matters) so the longer that goes on the less inclined I will be to give it back when I get some time over the coming weeks.
I personally think he's bipolar or something and had a moment where he lost it and gave all his stuff away now I'm the target of his rage to get some back with a "passive aggressive approach". Why not approach and try and burn the other people you gave 10's of 1000's of pp of gear away to too?

Server voted in favor of you returning the BP. You've not only taken the bitch route by backing out of the deal after the poll didn't go the way you wanted, you're making wild accusations to further justify your shitty decision.

Oh, I understood quite well how convoluted you made the voting rules so that you'd get to keep the item being that multiple options were being counted against the only vote to give it back.
And then that system failed you anyways. A week went by and the option to give him the BP was the winner, even when you added up the other choices. You just coincidentally disappeared from the forums for another week until after the votes, which you kept open EVEN TO THIS DAY, added up to what you wanted.
Nice try though guy.

Hi, my name is Bardalicious on the forums and in the game.
Yet again, you're making wild accusations to justify you being a douchebag. Had you kept your mouth shut and decided to keep the bp from the get go, this would be a non-issue. But instead you came here looking to use the community and a poll with one-sided results to absolve your conscience of guilt.
Only it backfired in your face.

Nah, point is that you never intended to give the guy his bp back. Thus the shady poll, then the disappearance when the votes didn't go your way, and now yet another cop out by giving it away to someone that isn't Ginelin. I see right through you buddy.

The options in the vote were set from the onset, if you had read it then you wouldn't be so mad.
The options included selling the bp and giving him 50% of the pp, I hardly see how the voting was lope sided.
Even though a week after the fact the vote still failed to give him his bp back and you got confused by *not reading* the rules. It states it like 6 lines in to the OP about the rules.
Please read vote rules in post below!
So please crawl back to your hole and sms/tell Ginelin in game you're sorry for failing to white knight for him. Infact you fucked him harder because I don't think I will be back to play eq for awhile since I just got a 6-8 week contract for work with a possible extention up to 4 months and had planned to give it back to him to scare the guy for been an idiot and going all bipolar and giving away what he claimed was 140-160k worth of items to people.
The thing you forget here Bard is I have done nothing wrong and gave the guy an option to get it back - but you and you posse of friends fucked it for him with your abusive posts etc etc.
