The folks over in Tech Discussion working on the high reso textures, particles, and bolt graphics might be able to give you some information on how to inject this texture in the normal wolf graphic slot.

I remember back in ye olde days patching to server, then deleting random graphic files before starting EQ.

Comedy would ensue. One particularly funny bug I got was an ogre skinned with gnome textures. It looked awful.

Definitely missed your point there :) No idea if that is doable or not as I am clueless when it comes to IT. Wish someone can help you achieve that if it's doable.
