Thursday open Fear raid

[Pikrib]

I wanted to set up a open Fear raid on Thursday 6/5/14 at 6:00 PM EST. If you are interested in this please post below so I can get some numbers. Depending on how well this goes we can do Hate next week.

For the new guys be aware that Fear and Hate are no pvp limit zones, That means that a lvl 60 can gank a lvl 46. It is very possible that somone could come and shit on the raid. We will start by clearing the west wall. When you zone into fear you will turn 90 degrees to your left and run till you hit the wall. If you get aggro don't run off and bring more mobs stay close to the group and die. If you are lvls 46 to 49 be aware that mobs here have a hudge aggro range, somtimes you won't even be able to see the mob before it has aggro. Lower levels might want to get a invs or double invs before entering. When we move to the north wall Don't touch the fire wall. You can still join the raid even if you are going to be late. Try to be at the raid 15 minutes early if you want buffs. If you have a group ready for buffs toss me (Pikrib) a invite and I will toss you group hero and symbol. I will try to toss out some peridots to other clerics. If you want buffs please dont ask for buffs in teamspeak use /tell.

I propose that the GMs spawn draco and CT for a FFA raid at the end if this planar clear is successful, and the new people can have a good chance at some cool loot. Maybe even stick an AoN on there. :)

Yeah, I think we got 2 of Red99's most wanted (Relapse and Sektor) coming. If people could hold off on slaying them till after the raid that would be great. At least people can get to know them in TS. They really are pretty cool/helpful people once you get to know them.

For the vets... Bring whatever character you want to play or you can play or a alt that needs the pixels.

For Sirken or Deru.. If we had a rumble in Fear after the raid any chance you could hand out some loot to the winners? :)

imo, staff shouldn't endorse this in any way at least in terms of events for items. You will end up with 150+ people at a fear raid (120 of which don't really need to be there) and defeat the purpose. Just do your thing Pikrib, and if its a success hope they show up and do something spontaneous. :)

It will also speed up getting this thing off the ground.

Thanks to all the people that came and helped out. Fear was a stingy with the drop rate but that happens. Had a little hiccup with the Nihilum AEing the raid, but that was to be expected. A least we got back up and running pretty quickly. Back before the PnP my old guild was CC'd in fear for 3 hours, but this is a PvP server and you have to persevere if you want to get the pixels. I'm really glad you guys didn't give up and finished the raid.

When we do it again we can no longer use the RD teamspeak because the Nihilum member who wiped the raid have the same teamspeak permissions that I do. I didn't want to use the Azrael TS if I didn't have to, but I'm banned from the Nihilum TS so that may be our only other option. Hopefully I will see ya all again next week.

Drakaris you can come to the next raid if you want I promise that no Azrael will attack you. Tinytim I'm sorry your guild members did that to ya and I wanted you to know that you and most of your guild members are welcome back to any pick up raid we do in the future.

I'm glad everyone had fun, was disappointed I couldn't make it. I pulled up Sektor's stream when I got back from my daughters soccer game and it looked like you were almost finished up.

As far as the whole AOEing thing, seems like it was done more for the spectacle than anything else. Not done during a fight, no CCing, just a "lets see if we can pull this off" moment. Hopefully everyone took it in stride. I personally wouldn't have wasted my time doing it but to each their own. :)

If CT was up, or Naggy or [insert boss mob here], FFA could prevent a lot of out of range crap.. esp now that range is a silly 4 levels (not classic on non item loot server).

R99 had Tune farming 52's like they were manastones, Nizzar training Sol B to get YT's, and Lite would send out batphones to camp our guild bind.

The time to make another guild was right after the xp bonus was put back in. The vast majority of the people who transplanted from blue or came back unaffiliated have found their way into Nihilum (95%) or Azrael(5%).

It might not be a popular opinion with the vocal minority on the boards, but Nihilum has a lot to do with why many of these players are sticking around. The app requirements are almost nil, you instantly become non KOS to 80% of the 50+ scene and it's your only realistic chance at end game pixels. There just aren't a lot of folks who are interested in hitting the raid scene in bronze and having to scrape and claw for enough platinum to buy even mediocre droppable items and never see a VP dragon or high end loot from Kunark. All the while having their exp/loot farming groups snuffed out of existence by the better geared majority.

You can call these guys names, say they are pussy blubie sellouts, say they're ruining the server by joining the zerg...but all that does is fuel their drive to app to Nihilum. For a huge amount of these newer players there are two options: Nihilum or quit.

TLDR: Let's worry about a viable 2nd option before we worry about a viable 3rd one?

pretty much why this server is "broken" and cannot be fixed without some sort of mass blue copy transplant. broken doesnt mean it cant be fun fyi, just saying this server will never be able to support another guild at this point.

This is how things happen naturally when they aren't forced. Once making a new guild is a path for quicker progression for the less tenured members of the number 1 guild a new guild is created. Population is key and unfortunately not too much can be done about that.

The server is better if there are multiple guilds that can win a PVP battle and the chance to kill the raid target, regardless if the spawn time is known or not. I really don't want to start the whole variance debate again.

It is not with the intention of igniting a variance debate. This was the solution the staff found to the problem, and it was going well. However, apparently it requires Rogean manually triggering it ... and that right there is the flaw, and the reason we go months without sim repops which would properly emulate classic patch days that properly split things apart. The saddest part of the whole thing is not using this solution in a time where the server's population was at the best its been in ages. Letting this momentum go to absolute waste.

I don't think a wipe will ever happen. The best we can hope for is a new server and eventual merge. It kind of appeases all views in a way...new start, different rules (item loot), chance at classic drops/binding at pots type of shit, but nobody loses what they already had.
