For overall plat farming, i.e. vendor loot(not named item farming) which would be a better class, mage(non epic) or necro? elaborate on your answer please

Necro, because they aren't entirely reliant on their pets to do anything and have superior utility for moving through and dealing with dungeons.

Sebilis? There's like 8 different spots bugs can spawn, and they poop out 80-200pp vendor gems/jewelry constantly, with gems you would want to sell to players or JC yourself dropping ocassionally as well.
I don't really understand why you'd fixate on this specific issue though.

Mages are better at sea furies I think which seems to be what you are asking. Necros better at everything indoors. Enchanters are better at both

This about sums it up. If you want a sea-fury farming whore destined to be a coh bot buried at the bottom of sleeper's tomb roll a mage...
otherwise, go chanter or necro.

I'd have to disagree with Enchanters being better than necro's. Enchanters can solo a lot of named stuff well but one mess up (early break or early summon) and we're dead while necro's mess up and they just pretend to be dead. Overall they have better ability to heal and a lot better mana regen.
I used to solo lodizal a lot on live (dire charm) when I could find him up and made a million or two when a million was a lot but been trying to solo him on beta (with charmed Captain Nalot double 450 bs) and can barely get him to 50% before I OOM or die.
Necro probably couldnt' solo him but shaman definitely could from what I recall prior to Luclin.
For farming non named loot mobs though, average geared necro's are just gonna be more efficient with constant heals and awesome mana regen you aren't going to have downtime like Shaman and Enchanter.

Necro can't solo HS South named like Ench.
Necro might be a bit safer/efficient at farming easier stuff but meh.

I've soloed Embalming Fluid with my 60 Necro.

I'd disagree. Charm pets do so much more damage and have so much more HP than necro pets that it really tips the scale back in favor of the ench imo, especially if you know which mobs to charm. Necros are great and all, but if you were to break down all the strengths and weaknesses of each class in some sort of cost-benefit analysis, I don't think anyone could top a chanter, especially if you don't care about EXP.
Necros can tap and FD, but FD isn't a huge advantage movement wise over lull / memblur, and with stuns, gate, caps, AE mez, runes, etc, enchanters have plenty of tools to get them out of tight spots. So it really comes down to killing power, which a necro can't top when enchanters have a hasted pet dual wielding.
Really though, it comes down to play style imo. Even if we all agreed enchanters were the best, if you hate babysitting your pet or keeping runes up or whatever, you're better off playing a class whose style you like more. Personally, I'd rather duo on my shaman than my enchanter, but solo wise I'd much rather play my necro or enchanter (at 60, except necro but he's close enough to 60 - basically leveling doesn't really equate into this).
Also, don't discount some not so obvious classes if you're not looking to do named. From personal experience I can speak to monks and bards being able to make some decent scratch if played right. There are certain camps that Bards speed and tracking ability really make them head and shoulders above everyone else. Monks being able to bind to 70% and having a quick refresh on mend also makes them viable in quite a few camps (especially with fungi, t-staff, and iksar regen). They're never gonna farm like a chanter or shaman, but if you're not going after named you're probably not gonna be making big $$$ anyway.

Well there were extenuating circumstances. The group I was in had just left with the PH down and the area hadn't fully respawned yet. I charmed a mob, pacified what was up, soloed him and gated out. It just doesn't sound as good if I tell the whole story though.

Necro can hold down 1 or 2 PH in south solo. Ench can hold down somewhat more.

Holding down 1 ph in south is impressive to me with any class. They all are surrounded by 4 mobs

do not under estimate necro, while very shakey I managed to solo a Spirit Wracked Urn during velious days. And there was way better necros then me when I did this.
Was last thing I needed for spirit wracked cord so was a very good day :D

You guys are missing the ops question. He doesn't want a dungeon soloing char. Go necro, great for out door soloing and good for dungeon soloing if you decide to do that in the future. Shaman is great outdoor in door, but necros are a little quicker outdoors.

tl;dr -this. Essentially, if you just want the class that's easier to play and very effective at chewing through greens, go mage.
If you want power to solo more specific, richer targets, Chanter or Necro (in that order). You can kill bigger targets and you can kill single targets more efficiently.
Mage is sometimes better pre-50 because its pet is so good - the pet weakens very quickly post-50 compared to what chanters and necros have access to.
Chanters obviously have charm, which turns increasing mob strength against itself. There are more pieces to executing that which take a bit of experience, but suffice it to say there's ridiculous solo potential there.
Necros have access to some good HoTs and very efficient dots (ignite blood, splurt, disease/poison line). Their health drain dot becomes ridiculously powerful 49+ and having that plus the HoT's going is like a mini-torpor with no slow component on your pet. Necro access to undead charm is also pretty helpful.

Going back to the question, I would go with a Necro.
Mages are faster for Sea Furies, but a Necro has 10x the utility and when you solo 2 less per hour, the Necro will make up for that in other ways. If you want to try indoor money camps, you are pretty screwed with the Mage. Necro is great if you afk a lot also.

If Seafuries are your top end farming place then you're doing it wrong.

Make a druid and plat farm on ports, you can gather 200pp quicker than Sebilis bugs I'm sure.
