People on Project 1999 are much more knowledgeable about which classes are "good" and which are "bad". Thus you will see a lot more Bards/Shaman/Necromancers/Enchanters and a lot less Rangers/Wizards/Mages/Paladins than on live.

Honestly that makes very reasonable sense. I see thanks loramin!

NP ... and as a Shaman myself (with Ranger and Mage alts), let me just say that you shouldn't let that stop you from playing whatever class you want. Even if you pick a popular class you'll still be able to find groups/guilds/loots, and the same is true even if you pick an unpopular class. It might be a little harder to get a guild as a popular class, or to get a group as an unpopular one, but it certainly is doable.

Yeah popular or not. It is definately the class that suits me these days. I am sure once i am in the swing of things ill be enjoying this with a good group of people!
Thanks again!

I think lack of groups is causing more solo friendly classes to be more abundant. I started off a Dwarf Cleric but the leveling is BRUTAL.
I started a barb shaman.

^^ This.
I went 50 lvls as a warrior and finally started another character too.
Most of the people I leveled up with are gone or did the same thing, rerolled.

I admire your tenacity getting a warrior to level 50! I don't want to solo a priest up to that level. The whole point of playing a cleric is to heal groups. There are just so few low level people running around it's impossible to find a group.
I'm keeping my dwarf cleric for now at level 9. Hopefully there will a surge of newer people at some point and I can get some grouping done and level him up.

Do not despair my new friend as the weekends bring a larger surge of players to group up with. What your characters name? If I hop in game tonite maybe we can group up if I have someone in your lvl range =D

Don't forget if you roll a cleric you're also a great undead wizard too, check out the "Guides" section of the wiki for some tips on going from 1-50 solo as a cleric :p

Yeah I'm camping the Skeleton Tower in Butcherblock. The exp grind is still brutal! Hehehehe.

How are the groups in EC? I'm wondering if I should abandon Butcherblock and head to Freeport. If there are no low level groups here I'm guessing Crushbone will be empty also.

Always groups in CB, Oasis. Usually Crushbone and Kurn's too. The run out there is long but Kurn's is great xp and you can start soloing there as a cleric. Take spells up to level 19.

Just started back up again myself just a few weeks ago. From what I've seen thus far, there's quite a few people leveling up, at least in GFay/CrushBone (Been leveling on Orc Hill & Slavers & Castle in Crushbone). Well, that is unless you're playing at odd hours (by odd hours, I mean outside primetime for US/Europe). I've also heard there's quite a few people that camp Gnolls in BlackBurrow (still have a bad taste in my mouth from years ago leveling in there on Live, so I stayed away from there...).
Planning to head over toward the Dervs in North Ro / Oasis here soon; not sure what the population is like there, though.
The number of people on the server / around to group with is one of the reasons I've felt the urge to play recently, and why I've been having so much fun since I started.

Oasis is probably the #1 leveling spot for people in their teen levels on this server. You can get over 30-40 people in that zone at primetime, so sometimes camps can be stretched a bit thin. Makes me wonder how we survived back in the day with like 120 people in the zone. It's close to Uguk too (also very popular) if you get bored of alligators.

Reading this thread I have to disagree for the most part. I've had no issues finding groups at any level whether it be on my Shaman or Mage...
Maybe we're on at different times? I'm usually online around 8 to 12 every weekday night, CST..
