So I installed WinEQ 2 to see if I could fix some of the performance issues I have. I noticed immediately that I could not swap from fullscreen to windowed mode using ALT+Enter or the whole thing would lock up my computer. In addition, it didn't seem to fix anything.
I uninstalled WinEQ 2 and it still crashed on swap. Would work fine in windowed mode, but fullscreen would crash. I then completely reinstalled Everquest without ever installing WinEQ2 again and it still crashes if I try to swap between modes on this fresh install.
Was wondering if anyone knows of a fix for this issue?

I've found that going from windowed mode to fullscreen is nothing more than cross your fingers and hope it works out for the best. I have about a 50% success rate it seems with alt+enter. When it fails, it always gives an error message, but I usually just log in and try again. Of course I always end up kicking myself because I'll alt + tab to go check a site or something and end up right back in windowed mode 5 minutes after going full screen.

I wonder why some can use Full Screen and Alt-Tab with minimal/no issue and others can't. I have no problems using FS, Alt-Tabbing out and back, then Alt-Enter to get FS back. I have the game bound to a single Core of my CPU, and have an Ati 4850 card with the latest drivers for Win 7 x64. Don't have to use any 3rd party apps to mess with windows or anything, just the simple command line option to bind eqgame.exe to 1 core to avoid the bugs that come with playing this client on multiple cores.
What OS are you guys running? Is your DirectX9 up to date? Are your video drivers current? Do you have a multi-core CPU and if so, are you doing anything to run the game on a single core vs any/all of them? Are you running native desktop resolution or a different one?
