New (Old) Dwarf

Hello all.

I stumbled upon Project 1999 and I am in shock! I have missing the original EQ for years! I installed everything and started playing last night.

I used to play a dwarf pally and dwarf cleric on the Drinal server. I was a guild officer and guild leader for a short time in the "Imperial Guard of Kaladim".

I rolled a dwarf cleric named Ndim last night. Grinded out to level 3 and went to bed with a stupid grin on my face after saving up enough money to but cloth armor and a rusty weapon!!! Yeah! Old EQ!

Hopefully tonight I can grind enough gold for a couple of backpacks!

what time period? i was in clan skallagrim with eldrini and for the life of me i cant remember his fathers name (guild leader). then moved to crimson twilight and later CiH.

I was actually from tarew marr which merged into drinal, Rogoshen my 86 druid still exists Haha.

Nomog, Troll Shaman - Dark Brotherhood
Ughle, Dwarf Rogue - raiding guild, can't remember the name.

I played from beta til EQ2 came out then the all little people guild I was in switched to EQ2. A ton of us were in beta for that and we moved when it went live. I can't remember the name if that guild. It's on my old PC at home. I'll have to look it up.

Thank you! A plat or two would be huge. I forgot how time consuming grinding was with no bag space at all. Constant running back to sell.

Don't forget about collecting all those bone chips from those skeletons that roam the newbie zone. Save em up and you can sell them in east commonlands very easily!

Yeah but with no bags Ive had to sell them. Tonight's grinding will be money for backpacks....and a shield hopefully.

Mid-kunark to OoW. I was easily missable, ML was a small group of friends and we mostly just grouped together or raided old content. Man I wish they all played here.

Yeah, it's hard to remember since it was so long ago. I have 2 RL friends that were in Guardians of the Keep, but I don't remember too much else lol (getting old)

Thank you! Forgot about the CB belts. I managed to ding 4 last night and save up enough plat for 6 backpacks, leather armor !!! and a shield. Gonna grind to level 5 tonight and head to the orcs. Then EC I figure around lvl8.

A better use would be to turn them in for XP.

I've leveled my last 2 or 3 chars in BB *just* for that quest. Kill ONLY skels, sell all the weapons, and you'll have enough money for bags by level 3. Keep killing ONLY skels (and the whelps that attack you; no way around that, and they drop money and weapons too) and save all the chips until you ding 5. By then you should have 10-13 stacks of bone chips, which will get you somewhere between levels 8.25 and 9.25.

Saving bone chips for cash in EC is a huge wasted opportunity.

This is only worth the money when they are not worth the XP.

WOW! I forgot how bad cleric soloing SUCKS>

Leveling up with bone chips off of greens is faster then soloing blues. The downtime isn't fun.

Sadly, yes. I did the same thing with my cleric in CB and belts at levels 10-12. At 14 when your healing gets better than shaman/druid though, you'll have a much easier time getting groups.

I'm stuck at level 12/13. I'm too weak to solo much, and group experience is really weak at this point.

Thank you but I think I'm going to ressurect my Shaman. After 3 hours of grinding at the skelly tower in Butcherblock and barely getting a bub of exp I can't grind out a cleric at this pace. I forgot how brutally slow leveling was.
