What do you want to do? Connect your desktop to your mac to get wireless?

If so, why not just setup your mac as a router and connect to it that way?

Yes. Desktop wireless card is awful so I have this pretty nice PC just sitting here as I play on my tiny laptop lol. I didn't know I could turn my laptop into a router! Makes sense I guess. Will look into it hehe.

Do you know if it's even possible without the ethernet (or whatever) ports? Maybe a USB converter thing would fix that problem.

An alternative is to get a USB network card for 10-20 bucks depending if you get one with an antenna thing. I have one and it has better speeds than internal board of another desktop as well as my laptops

Those stupid things never work properly. They always drop the connection frequently for no reason. Tried a few :(

Do you have an ethernet port for the mac?

Anyways if you do, should be able to use similar to Windows ICS.

Note: all of this was posted without owning any apple product. Good luck!

im not sure about macintrash, but windows has this capability built in since xp at least. since apple's strategy has always been to copy their competition, i would only assume that there is a way to do this.

Pretty sure no one cares, but I left the USB/ethernet thing at my mom's house so I can't play around with this just yet. Thanks again for your help! I'm sure after I visit her again I'll be bumping this to ask more simple questions.

I haven't had great luck with the usb adapters in the past, but recently got one for a friend. It seems to work great, and they get d/l speeds up to 2mbs. Has been working for 2 months.

To ensure best signal, I also got them this 15ft extension cable. So the adapter is connected somewhere in the nearest window.

You should be able to get both these items for around $20 total.
