Hello all,
i created a server yesterday for the first time. I need to stress test it to see how many people i can have on it before it lags to much. It is by no means ready yet but it will be going from classic to Luclin. I have some things to play around with atm but for now i am focusing on the spells. It will be a legit server with no boxing. I have almost all of the quests kinked out and they should be working. If you want to try it, it is up now. It is called "The Dynamic Duo". The name is going to change but thats what it is for right now=) If you can please email me any bugged spells you find at bruceleec21@gmail.com.
Thank you you all for taking the time to read this. and happy hunting.
On a last note i will not be deleting any characters so you dont have to worry about progress being lost. Also i am going to be keeping this server up as much as possible, but it will have to come down at least 3 times a week for a restart.

no gimmicks, no website yet, it is brand new. I just finished getting it up yesterday. yes it is on the server list under regular servers. Right now all zones are able to be accessed up to GoD right now, though that is going to change soon. For now i want to get it up and see how it is going to run before i pour money into a dedicated server. Be gentle i am new to all of this but i have played eq for many years.
Ps right now you can use the spell file for p99 but i am going to be posting a link when i finish looking at the spells through my editor to make sure they are inline with luclin. this means no beastlords right now unless you want to be severly gimped

Well, I just have some questions that I think anyone looking at this will want to know:
1) Why a new server? While I am sure many of us would like to restart for the feeling of classic (for those of us who came in late), how are you going to replicate a classic experience, than a Kunark one, than a Velious one, and then a Luclin one, when it takes Project 1999 a sizable dev team of volunteers to make it happen?
2) At what point do you plan to roll it back to classic style? Currently, you can create any class/race, I believe. I am right now sitting in Gloomingdeep on a Froglok Necromancer. Are you just doing spells first, and so on?
3) How are you planning to handle boxing?
This is not to discourage you at all. I'd very much like to redo a classic experience, as I came to P1999 too late to be on board for the start of the server. These are just some big questions you should consider before dumping money into a dedicated server. That's certainly a large project, and I'd hate to see you burn resources without much of a plan.

I believe Luclin was when EQ was at its best. Alot of people would agree with me. I havent found a legit up to luclin server yet. So i thought that i would make one of my own since there isnt one available. My brother and me would love to go back to the days when it was Luclin and no further into EQ. While many may disagree with me Everquest i belive was at its prime right after Luclin was released..
I agree i have alot of work on my hands. I believe i can get it done. My brother is helping me as well as a friend of mine from another server. With great resources such as thewaybackmachine and the p99 wiki its all a matter of verifying and editing where needed. Also i have ALOT of time on my hands with nothing to do atm.
I am going to be taking the PoK books out of the game soon. As well as the tutorial. For the moment im getting the spell file ready to post up. there will be a link to my googledrive account soon with a spell file for the server.
As for the boxing issue my friend has an alert system he uses and im gonna see if he can let me use it on my server. Till then i will have to manully boot the account from the server. At the moment Boxing is allowed and fine by me.

Interesting. So you're not rolling it back to Classic, and then working it to Luclin by progression, you're just making it to be at Luclin and sit there?

that is a good idea though and it gives me time to work on each expansion. rather then having to do them all at once.
Ill talk to my brother and see if he agrees.
Less bugs also i sure because I can spend more time on a expansion.
I will plan on releasing expansions about every 6 to 8 months up to Luclin, If my brother agrees with your idea. =)

Well, the "idea" I offer is what Project 1999 is doing, but it requires coding the content for era. It will be far more cumbersome for you to try and code the game back as Classic, and then implement code that makes it like Kunark, and so on. It is such a difficult task you'd need a development team like Project 1999.
However, it is far more manageable for you to just roll back to Luclin era, and let the server sit there. That is a far more achievable task than what I think two people could do in a 6-8 month time span.

Stock build. Disable pop, loy, ldon, god.
Work on emu pathing and remove loy research items.
Someone really needs to develop emu pathing.
