I just came from blue recently and I found some new friends in unrest. these flowers of happiness people just came in to grief us constantly. some twinked shadowknight with a level 60 druid buffing and healing him was impossible for us in our high 20's to hurt. we tried to fight but theres nothing you can do with a 60 druid out of range keeping you up when you are already twinked.

are you allowed to do this with higher level characters? I dont know but this really turns me off as a new player. I'm all for pvp but this was just dumb.

IDK, before starting on red you should have read the forums a little. Unrest is basically a no go zone. Due to this problem. With the group bonus, just go somewhere else.

While it sucks, you shouldn't let it deter you, especially if you were enjoying your time with your group before this. The server is old...people have gear and can be dicks.

On Red dicks get to be dicks, and in cases like this, there's not much you can do about it. On Blue they don't get to do this.

General rule from what I've seen on this server: don't go anywhere that your exits are minimized (ex. dungeons) without preparation/gearing for the worst. At least in somewhere like South Karana even if a bard was coming your way you'd have 2-5 minutes to pack up and leave.

I'm not looking to evade pvp I want to pvp that's why i decided to play on here. my concern was the level 60 out of range druid following him around buffing healing him. this isnt the first time ive encountered this with this guild, and this isnt the first time they broke up a group I was in forcing us to stop playing.

if they are level 60 why dont they go fight other level 60's instead of griefing lowbie groups with twinks and out of range druids?

Leave behind your preconceived notions of what zones are good to xp in before moving here from blue if you wish to avoid pvp like this. If you don't care about avoiding one-sided pvp, then as suggested above try to bring it to OOC to see if anyone else is willing to help.

Being better-prepared for a fight certainly can't hurt either. Stock up on a few pumices if you can and keep dispel memmed. There'll be times where it won't make a difference if someone is staying on top of insta-click junk buffs. But if not, stripping buffs can reduce total hp, damage mitigation, resists, run speed and in turn wastes the OOR healers mana, which is leaps more effective than wasting mana on another resisted nuke or swinging through damage shields.

Even if you don't win, which is almost always inevitable in situations like this, at least you gave pvp a fair chance. Next time, I'd suggest a "hey, good fight" to the winner followed by asking if they minded letting you guys continue to xp. If they don't, call LNS and move to a new zone. Coming to the forums is about the last thing you'll ever want to resort to.

P.S. Send Cannabis a tell in-game if you see me online and I'll stop by to hand out druid buffs.

This can basically be compared to overfishing / overhunting / overfarming etc. If you guys all grief everyone off with overly aggressive pvp be it with super twinks, OOR healers, SK HT bots, all you are doing is ensuring these young antelope will never grow up to produce more antelope. You're keeping the pop artificially down and therefore ultimately creating less pvp to be had. Someone who is griefed @ say level 15 in Unrest is much more likely to say fuck this server and quit than someone who is already in his 50's and has built friendships and invested a significant amount of time into his toon. The true PVP'ers here should be bending over backwards to help the new players if they really cared about a vibrant PVP scene @ the end game.

And for all the "well they can just call LNS!", how many people @ level 15 in Unrest, who may not have even been able to secure a bind nearby, are really going to care enough to do so after getting destroyed by fungi twinks and 60 druids when they can just /camp and log on to blue again? They are as Red of a guild as you can get on our server. They will fight you no matter what, whether it is even odds or not. They are also relentless. You pretty much just have to avoid them in situations like last night where they have a 50+ druid support. They aren't too worried about it being fair.

Don't get too discouraged though, the majority of the server is on your side on this issue and most 50+ wouldn't be wasting their time on this. It is rare that this happens but it does happen.

Exactly. Losing a zone is part of the PvP server. You guys lost Unrest to an unfair fight. Move on to somewhere else. On the other side of it if you guys go into a zone and win that zone against someone else, it is all yours. It is the difference between fighting for the zone versus waiting in line for possibly hours on blue.

I know how you feel, orran. These are the thoughts I had when I started red a couple months ago after being a die-hard red hater for years. Other people who are leveling up USUALLY don't want to PVP. The people who do want to "PVP" only do it in the context of ganking (twinked SK rolls in on you when you're XPing, etc) or griefing (OOR support).

Hopefully the staff will realize they put too much time into this server to continue allowing players like chewie to chase off new blood under the pretext of "PVP" so that red can grow and be a place for PVP.

Well getting "griefed" by getting smoked by a twink or player with OOR help sucks but with PnP it is only 1 pvp death. It is only about 15 minutes out of your way to get corpse and try somewhere else. If people are holding down a zone like this hopefully aid comes eventually. It is one of the reasons yellow text is a good thing, to show the server what is happening. Situations like this can actually bring the community together and connect low level with higher levels that are anti-grief players.

I think the PnP rules limit the damage of the griefer mentality and the server needs villains. Some people like playing white knight and want the chance to attack the griefers. It gives people something to do.

Well getting "griefed" by getting smoked by a twink or player with OOR help sucks but with PnP it is only 1 pvp death. It is only about 15 minutes out of your way to get corpse and try somewhere else. If people are holding down a zone like this hopefully aid comes eventually. It is one of the reasons yellow text is a good thing, to show the server what is happening. Situations like this can actually bring the community together and connect low level with higher levels that are anti-grief players.

I think the PnP rules limit the damage of the griefer mentality and the server needs villains. Some people like playing white knight and want the chance to attack the griefers. It gives people something to do.

I agree that real grief is almost nonexistent on red anymore, with no xp loss on death and PNP rules about LNS and bind camping and shit. But seeking out "PVP" when you have OOR support is genuine grief.

A 60 isn't allowed to KS a 30's camp just because he can, using the excuse that "well you can call in friends to chase me off" ... so why should a 60 be allowed to OOR buff+heal against that 30 in "PVP"? No-recourse "PVP" isn't PVP at all. It's grief. I'm pretty confident that the staff know this and that they aren't trying to promote red all week long just so that FOH can get their jollies chasing people back to blue though... so this will probably be settled soon.

If you have a forum account, you've probably at least visited the pvp boards.

If you've visited the pvp boards you'd know mm, unrest and lguk are essentially foh zones or twink controlled zones.

If you don't already know this, you do now. It is quite easy to level elsewhere, in addition, the rate xp is so blindingly fast that if you do get a full group going here, you are likely to outpace your skills and money-flow (provided this is your first character with no transfers). The Zem in these zones are really their only appeal aside from some lowbie items here and there. With the new bonus, you're actually better off levelling in a densely packed outdoor zone.

Not sure we're suggesting you avoid PvP, but certain dungeons are just known for this kind of griefing is why people suggest skipping it. And most arent even condoning it, just saying it happens.

We put in a host of new changes, a PnP, lowered level range, got a ton of new people onto the box for people to group/pvp with, and got an overwhelmingly positive response from the community when we asked them to help us out fostering a new player-base.

And then Chewie flips out, kicking and screaming that the box is dead, there won't be anyone to PvP with, we might as well disable PvP because there wont be anyone to kill, etc etc....

And now that FoH has found someone to PvP with, they bring a level 60 to come heal them in lowbie Unrest PvP?

I assume if no one was grouping with him in Kurns it was because we were the only 2 ever in there before exp bonus was put back in. I did 10-22 there and he was the only one there aside from Illz practically that whole time. He knew how to click heal and undead DD. Was fine for me.

Well this has been a very distracting thread.

Deru (and other staff members), Chewie is a particularly interesting case of bad guy because he's super bad on the forums and plays this up in game too, but if you actually watch him in game very little of what he does could be considered grief (and this is coming from someone that has actually been griefed by him). The man loves pvp but always follows the rules, and yes please inspect his characters. His higher levels have decent twink gear for someone that lives in LGuK, but you won't see him putting epics or fungi on Unrest characters. And if you follow Chewie's exploits in Guk you'll see quite a bit of immy healing and shady tactics used again him... but I guess it's okay when you're fighting the bad guys :P

Sirken ofc is a great GM, but to be fair he did ban Chewie for something Chewie didn't even do. I think we kinda owe it to him to get all the facts before jumping down his throat, even if he does chase a few players off with his bad guy act. He's the sort of bad guy we should want to stick around because he doesn't make super twinks and does follow the rules (even if he grumbles about them). Much rather have Chewie around than Sickpuppy and Vaporize alts.

Give a shout in OOC, make some new friends. Got a few twinked chars I plan on leveling, one being a fully geared SK with VP weapons, dragon haste/fungi. Doesn't get much better then that. Gladly fight some other twinks if I could ever get to them in time, they login do their work log off fast to avoid anyone coming to potentially kill them. The only time I enjoyed killing new players was when those 4-5 people from FE came over in unrest and were blatantly boxing and got owned by 3 30 SKs decked out in gear and cried that they would never touch red again. Though I am sure they rolled chars again under new names.

But not everyone is like this, Sometimes people will get bored and basically anyone who has a 60 is going to have some sort of alt they can login to kill you with or help you with. All depends on the person and what mood they are in I suppose, FoH like said before has been doing this since release, nothing different. Just have to beat them back with help or avoid them, eventually you will be out of their range entirely since they stick to low levels.
