Started an Iksar monk
Jump in the water in the canal, immediately see a red name running by up on the surface. I stalk him. He's a monk, too. He's level 2. He's at the Haggle Baron.
I think about initiating some kind of social interaction. I hail the Haggle Baron instead and get me a curskin bag thing.
Zone to FOB. Immediately get a tell from Monkey something, telling me to reroll in Qeynos, because there's plenty of people to group with and gnoll fangs are off the chaaaain
Run to Warslik's, then Overthere, where a 48 rogue named Imago is LFG.
Catch the boat. Swim to firepots. Port to Halas. Friend distracts the guards. Friend distracts guards on the outside too, but they see me. The chase is afoot!
Vengeful lyricist quads me for 11. That's the end of my monk. Deleted.
I want to play a cleric, but an Innoruuk cleric if ya know what I mean. But they start in Freeport. That's terrible.
To pass the time, I start a necro in Paineel. It's nice and isolated; perfect place for an easy-solo class like necro. I run to zone to get away from 2 pack rats though.
There's this thing called OOC chat. Some creature named chewie is roleplaying and trying to get attention using Moon Guard tactics. I guess some WoW players like to box p99 too.
So it's like "turn xp bonus off its ruining my immersion" and other logical fallacies ignoring the way they levelled up back in the days of the bigger XP bonus
After being told to shut up, it starts being like "server pop isnt going up, it's just a bunch of nerds at character select trying to make numbers look bigger" - more intentional logical fallacies intended to get a negative reaction. Because trolling on the internet is edgy and original a la Hot Topic.
Literally the entire population tells this gross thing to shut up and stop being toxic. "We've finally got newbies increasing the server population; stop What a waste of space. Eventually it realizes how boring it is and stops saying things in trade chat (I mean global OOC sorry)
Eventually someone shows up in Paineel, while I'm typing this. She hails me. No PVP happens.
A high level rogue shows up and challenges me to a duel. I wonder why he didn't just kill me. After I die, I remember that there's a +-4 level limit now, so he can't just kill me.
He's Gangsta from the <Nihilum> guild. I've read things about them.
When I got to loot my body (after a 10-second corpse run) he opens trade and gives me 74 plat. WHAAAT?! "For being so cool" (All I did was say "Taste my blade FOOL" before trying to stab him)
We have a talk about jboots (which go for 2.5k here), how fun rogues are, maybe rolling a Dark Elf cleric, then he points out how behind-the-power-curve necros are at this point with no DoT stacking.
I wonder what all the fuss is about. Then Imago gets killed by Sukii, and says something about "Why aren't you on Cluhsterfuck or Macewindu and griefing in CB?" - I guess this is the stupid toxic type with the twinks every 4 levels who camps people outside of Unrest and stuff. I've heard of them. What a disgusting creature.
All in all, this is 2 shitbags on a server with a current population around 170. It ain't that bad. I would think that to counter their shit you do something like this:
Chewie: Tell him to shut the fuck up and/or ignore him. You know how these attention whores operate.
Person who makes twinks at every 4-level interval to camp you in popular zones until you're inspired to leave the server: Well the solution here would be to have an alt. Level up 2 at once. If you're getting camped on one, why would you cooperate with that? Just switch to your alt in the Field of Bone. Make them chase you all the way across the world, then switch back. They either won't leave (because they're a chicken-shit twink shitbag anyway) or if they do, you win! Mostly, understand that this is not a way to be. No victory easily won is ever something to brag about. Just now, some idiot killed 3 level 8s in Blackburrow. Immediately people started calling this guy a twink or a low-HP sniper(along with the usual hate-speech). I'm kind of glad to see that this sort of irrational behavior is being called out. Shamed, as it should be.

On an even more personal note: I think I'll stick around for a while. Hybrid XP penalties are really nasty for me right now on Blue; I'm only level 40, but fight something for 10 minutes and get 1/4 of 1% of a level? And I have how many more hell levels to go? Bahhhh
New update: Met Chance when he tried to gank me in Neriak. He was testing the level limit. For some reason, level 4 spells didn't affect my level 1. I dunno. I ran into him on the newbie log("Taste my club, FOOL!") and I couldn't attack him either. I guess I still have a lot to learn about this weird system and weirder place.

jboots are going more for like 4k. Join uprising, they have lots of lower level players to group with, if you can't find a grp on your own.

Heh, some guy aggroed me (knowing my pet would attack him) and ran to the guards. I ended up getting killed by some level 10 quest NPC near the guards.
Stay classy you toxic dumps.

Here is a link to the "PvP Server Specific PnP Rules" (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148787)
Because you seem new around here, PvP means "Player-versus-player", and PnP means "Play Nice Policy". This is a game, after all, and when we play games with others, we build foundations of trust by agreeing on certain rules.

Intentionally causing experience-loss to other players in the PvP environment is illegal in all cases

So when this individual intentionally trained my pet to a guard, getting the guard to aggro the pet, which in turn meant the guard charged at me, was with the intent of making me lose experience. That did happen, because the nearby quest NPC who aggroed me and jumped through a wall to punch me to death while we were fighting.

Killing someone over and over again while at his or her bind-point or while they are in the process of looting and scooting is illegal and may result in disciplinary action taken against your account.

Which happened immediately after, as I died near my bind point (The default bind point) and was killed 3-4 times afterwards at the same place. Eventually I typed /q and I do not know what happened after that, but apparently my character chased you back to the guards. I'm proud of her.

Nothing you said warrants any reply. If you feel that someone has violated the rules, feel free to report them to the CSR team. I won't be submitting a petition about being griefed, because the above violations need to be witnessed by a CSR team member in order for any disciplinary action to happen.

But I do want to blog some more observations I had earlier tonight, for anyone else:

As a necro, if my pet does more than 50% of the damage to a mob, I lost 50% of the XP. This is true unless I'm in a group of 2 or more, at which point the pet no longer causes a damage penalty. Currently, on the red99 server, if you're in a group of 2, you get a 40% XP bonus. So for a pet class like necro, if you have a friend who doesn't mind logging in and creating a wizard and sponging XP, you can actually gain MORE per kill than you would alone, while your pet does most of the work. It felt kind of cheesy, but I did this for a while, and it was nice to get 2-4% per kill for a while there. If that person's about to get griefed, they can always alt-tab back and /q.

People really should not reveal in-game names to the forums. That's really inconsiderate and in poor taste. Some people aren't mature enough to separate the two outlets, and will often seek "revenge" for getting burned in one on the other.
