I have always wondered what the deal with Rogean and eqemulator is. How does he own it now? eqemulator is from like 2002, rogean is like 25 so he obviously wasnt involved in its early days. What happened and how did rogean acquire it?

Hunter died 2 months ago unexpectedly, but he didn't run EQEmu, he ran the 2nd or 3rd largest server. Unless somebody else died as well.

Essentially their guild (and a few others at the time) was using an exploit known as pillar tanking or z axis tanking, where effectively they could have a tank stand behind a pillar and due to geometry / z axis issues the mob couldn't hit them or summon them. Trivializing the event. Also through the use of clever Expedition dropping mechanics they were able to farm a raid that normally had a 4.5 day lockout, by removing everyone but a few junk Alts before the Killshot was delivered so that the lockout was only eaten by some boxed Alts. The later, I'd guess, is part of the reason their guild was singled out though when as they point out several of the other guilds were guilty of the same pillar tanking shit.

At the bottom they mention Rogean's IRC. I *think* after this he quit PC.

It was around this time when P99 was lifting off, and I think he quit EQLive and gradually became more of a driving force behind the project.

Cause and effect kinda shit. Time frees up here, sunk into different project.
