I started out getting kinda hyped about Everquest Next and came across information about Project 1999. I even just started playing Elder Scrolls and paid for my subscription, but as soon as I heard about 99 I had to do it. I am currently a level 9 Ogre Shadowknight named Warmetal and my friend whom I convinced to start with me is a Highelf Cleric named Conena. We currently can be found in Crushbone if it matters, if you see us, say hi! Probably won't be long before we are 60 and looking to raid too! Just wanted to introduce myself and express my gratitude to the devs that made this happen. Glad to see 800 to 1000 players on at all times and shocked that there aren't more searching for that nostalgia of original EQ! For the moment, I am totally enthralled. My friend and I both played in Top Tier guilds from release to Omens of War.

I do have two questions however if anyone knowledgable is reading this, maybe I can kill two birds with one stone and get an answer:
1) I am having issues playing FULL SCREEN. If I hold alt and press o it will work, but in a minute or so it autoswitches me back. I also installed from a CD copy of Titanium and it has no EQclient.ini file to manually change. Any ideas!?

2) I brought my Ogre SK to Crushbone in order to play with my friend and have acquired probably 50 belts and 20 pads already. I am still scowling. I see tons of other ogres/trolls/iksars in there, has anyone been able to successfully fix their faction for belt turn ins in Kaladim? Maybe a trick they have? Just hate to see them go to waste after collecting.

I will be watching this thread for replies. See you in game!

welcome back!

There is a ton of info in the technical discussion forum. I read too much there to be helpful with accuracy, but maybe be sure you have right clicked your desktop icon and chose to run it in compatibility mode, like to XP SP3, or SP2 or something, not sure if that is exactly what fixed it for me or not, but it is fixed and this is one of the things I did. Also played with the Video Setting in ALT O until it worked as well. Once I am set to full screen I am good for the evening.

And for your 2nd question, no idea!

Again, welcome!

Hey Robbie,
You can fix your faction enough to do turn ins, the first step is usually wolf form to eliminate the racial hatred.

Did you play EQ on live, back in the day? I want to be sure you know about the 50%+ exp penalty associated with playing an Ogre SK so you know what you're in for :).

Thanks Sorock, I will look into it. I briefly took a look, but aside from all the people saying to go in EQclient.ini, there were only a few people with vague directions to fix, but I'll take another look!
Lecompte, unfortunately Kaladim is an indoor zone and you cannot use Wolf Form as a result, trust me I looked into it! Definitely aware of the exp penalty for Ogre SK, is what it is! I mentioned in my original post that I did play from release to Omens of War expansion, so played for quite a while, but it's also been like 10 years since then already? Baby steps! I played on Innoruuk.

I appreciate the welcome!

I played on Innoruuk too! But if you can't make use of the belts/pads for faction (I wouldn't bother personally) then you can sell them for a pretty penny. It will go a long way to helping you buy some basic starter gear.

I briefly helped y'all out the other night when y'all were attempting orc hill at lvl 2 hah, saw your cleric friend on a few CRs. I've got a lvl 9 bard (Zima) and lvl 10 enchanter (Nudyen) I'm slowly leveling up since finding groups hasn't been easy whatsoever. I play mainly at night after 9pm CST, anytime on weekends. Wish I could convince my old EQ friends to join but they don't game anymore. Feel free to hit me up if you see me on either of my toons, always down for some grinding.

Yeah, that may be what I'll have to do it's just too bad. I have enough belts/pads already to probably skip a level altogether, but worst case I'll make some cash!

I remember ya Guzum, I was in Crushbone starting at level 4 until now at 9. Still making my way to Throne Room! I don't know if it's my memory or what, but it's been so long it's hard to even remember people from back then, much less I didn't even have Facebook and such then either! Too bad!

Just started a bard I'm Vedre so if you see me hmu! I'll def show the ropes..

I helped someone with the same video problem... Change your setting in options on the login screen(where u put your password) then once back in the game change your video mode to your setting (mines 1920x1080) then make sure full screen is selected if it auto full screens you should be good if not alt+enter does it.

My mains a necro and I was KOS to kaladim but now I'm amiably, not sure how but yeah.
Your better off selling them, and I am def buying so if you still have all of em I'll give ya like 200pp for em all.

My necro is Sliren so I'm on her or the bard friend me and don't be shy love talking to and meeting new people.

Appreciate the help Sliren, I'll be heading home after work later tonight to see if it works.
I started selling off all the belts since I was still scowling after 6 hours in Throne Room. Hoping I might be able to get better faction in 1 or 2 more levels of grinding Crushbone so I can at least turn in Shoulderpads, if not, guess I'll sell those too.

Jaybone, I was in Formidable and/or Ashen Vendetta depending on the character. Dedd or Boomstik. Did you play on Innoruuk?

Ya but this quest:

Perhaps it will raise your faction enough with Storm Guard so you can turn belts in.

Those names sound familiar. I was in AV when legends merged with them so not sure if you were around then.

Nice Lecompte, I wish I would have know about that quest before. I don't know if it's worth it to go now at level 11 to try that. I did find that Orc Vest quest in Kelethin for pads and I'm already apphensive to guards there. Might sell all the belts and in a level or two have a ton of pads to turn in at least.

Jaybone, if I remember right that was quite a bit after...but I was in AV for a while so maybe you would be familiar. What were your char names on Inny?

I was able to do turn ins for mystic cloak with an earth ele potion from CT as a dark elf.

Might work for you turning in belts.

That's actually a great idea that I hadn't seen posted anywhere! Only one small problem...aren't these hard to get for a level 11? Unless I can find someone around selling a ele potion that will be tough! lol

I'm having a rough time remembering what I did on my necro to get amiably to kaladim.
I didnt do the belts or pads or go to CB much, so I'm lost on this one but it have been farming CB for belts and pads for my bard and the AoE is adding up.

Conena, your ?brother/sister? Just sold me over 100 belts and I went from 8 to 12 so it's nice. But as a SK you would need 60 more just to get the same amount I got out of it.

Also I'm looking for just pads now so keep em coming lol lots of plat right there

UPDATE: I had to sell ALL the CB belts, BUT, after 3 days of throne room killing Dvinn/Crush etc, I went to Kaladim just to take a chance and check and I was AMIABLE!
The dwarf slaves in CB are not on the same BB/Kaladim faction! I walked straight through and turned in like 40 pads basically skipping level 14! I was just about to sell them all. So tip: You need to go all the way to BB and con the guards, nothing in CB will actually tell you your true faction. If an Ogre SK can do it, you can! I'm now Kindly to Kaladim.

Edit: You can probably turn in the Orc Vest quest (2 pads 1 belt 1 silk each turn in) in Kelethin right away if you can find a Druid to wolf form you since it's an outside zone, but I don't know if it's better experience I would just wait for Kaladim personally.

Jaybone, still waiting on your name from Inny! Nice to always remember the people I use to play with, I believe I will still in AV when Legends merged with them so I probably will know your old toons.
