Making a monk

About how much plat do I need to make a decent twink monk? I am not talking about super twink with Fungi and worn haste right out of the gate, just a few neat lil weaps and some other smaller items to get me by. Thanks!

I am thinking not Iksar due to the exp penalty and me not having a TON of time to dedicate to it as I like my DRU and Rogue a lot also. Also I like being able to get into other cities versus. Have not made an iksar though... are the zones around Cabilis well populated? If so I might roll iksar as I think they are neat lol!

780p total, good enough DPS to 50 if you never upgrade anything on the way, can hit all mobs with your fist attacks, 170 additional hp.

Iksars regen twice as fast, and faster 51+, which means your downtime is cut in half when you're soloing, so it's kind of a wash between Humans and Iksars when it comes to exping. They're both fun though.

2hb is a hard thing to sell for level 1-20, mainly because of the damage cap

2hb 20+ until you get epic. A wu's staff pre-20 will serve you well if you're short on plat for one handers though, even with the damage cap. Either way, make sure you skill up 1hb, 2hb and hand to hand as you level.

reinforcing this. I leveled with wu's and tbh in the late teens it was rough hitting for 29.. but I would regularly hit for 29.

Ah that would be sweet if you get an extra look me up. I would join you but my main is only 30! I need to find a way to get the little gear I have on DRU for my monk to my monk lol!
