Light source does nothing on mac

My wife is playing on a Mac through the Wine setup. I am not sure this matters. Light sources do nothing for her. I have checked and unchecked shaders and messed with other in-game settings.

Also, the Gamma slider does nothing, her game is pretty dark.

Any tips please?
