Do the higher mana costs for higher level roots translate into better results? On live, I remember that they never panned out since it usually broke on nukes anyhow (I played a wizard). I did use higher roots if I had to battlemed, but I never found the higher level roots more effective overall. Anyone else have input?

afaik the resist check just decreases and the length (according to the spell icon anyways) increases.

I used lvl 4 root on my wiz until I got the fixed duration root... All the others in-between seemed to suck as bad as the lvl 4 one did...

Which one is fixed duration?

Same, I only used Root (low mana) or Virulent Paralysis (PoP AA, fixed duration + knockback) on my shaman.

Man I miss Virulent Paralysis. Badass AA.

This has some really good Root info, though it pretty much only compares what versions are available to a Wizard, you can get the gist of it.
