View Full Version : Does the 12th necro pet = 8th necro pet?

I got my 12th pet and I swear that it literally equals what I summoned at 8th level. Is my assumption correct on this or am I just getting the lowest pets everytime? Please tell me that our pets do actually get stronger.

Are you saying you got your 12th level spell and summoned a pet that was equal to your 8th level pet?

You have to remember also that when you're at levels 4 and 8, your pet can be summoned at a higher or equal level to you. I believe at level 12 this stops and your pet will always be lower level than you and random on the level.

It gets a bit worse the level before you get your next pet upgrade. I know I've summoned about 3-4 pets before I finally got a blue one instead of Light Blue at these levels.

The lvl 12 pet doesn't feel like a big step up - but, the lvl 16 is the difference between day and night. He is pretty badass. The lvl 20 isn't so impressive, but the lvl 24 is. They are all upgrades, but some are (at least seemingly) better than others.

Yeah I figured out what the upgrade is. it is pretty pathetic actually.

8th summoning spell = a Pet that hits for 8,10,12 and 14 potentially(This is a way to gauge thier level when all you see is Dark Blue).

12th Summoning = a Pet that hits for 10, 12, 14 and 16. The nice thing about the 16 one is that he also is able to hit magic creatures at that point. The 10 one is Light blue to a 12th Necromancer.

That is a pretty weak upgrade for a 4 level difference. It would also explain why the 16th one feels so damn powerful.

They really should even the pets out a little better.

This is helpful. I was wondering why my 12 pet was such a pansy compared to my 8th (to same level mobs).

On live, the 12th necro pet could be DB. I would guess it can on here too, you may just have to resummon a few times.

If its any help, I summoned 20+ pets in a row at 12 and always got a LB one. But at level 16 the pet is a nice upgrade as was said above!

I try never to PvE with a Light Blue pet on my necro ever. The only times I have are when I have been down to the last few bone chips I'm carrying and can't resummon or I've lost a pet and in order to keep the spawn locked down I can only summon once and the summoned pet is Light Blue.

I know it took a few summons but I was always able to get a Dark Blue pet at level 12. I certainly needed it as at level 12 I was fighting a red bard in WK.

The lvl 12 pet is probably the single worst upgrade in pets you ever get. He hits magic, thats about the only upgrade. 16 is a beast though in comparison.

At least one of the lvl 12 pets i had wasn't hitting magic (I was fighting willowisps). Maybe the medium/high or just high con 12 pet hits magic?

Yeah, some of the pets could hit magic at 12 and others couldn't.. just the higher level ones could.. I initially learned if it was a good pet by seeing if it could hit a wisp. If not, I'd gate, and then zone back to try again.. Later I learned to see if the pet would get agro from a bear. If yes, he was too low.. If not, he was high enough to fight the wisps and scarecrows. (This was in West Karana)

I believe the only level 12 pet that can hit magic is when you actually summon a level 12 pet.

There are 4 levels of pets that can be summoned at level 12.

The way you tell the power of your pet is by looking at the peak amount of damage he can do with 1 swing. This rule applies to all pets of all classes though the Mage's fire pet level of power can be denoted from the amount of damage his fire shield does to a target.

At 12th a summoned pet can do either 10, 12,14 or 16 points of peak damage with one single hit. The pet that is able to hit magic targets is the pet able to hit for 16 points. So, to know whether or not your 12th leveled summoned pet can hit magic or not, just have him engage an easy target and see if he hits for 16 with one of his hits. If he does, that is the one that can hit magic based targets. Regretfully this is the only pet that can hit magic based targets when you use the 12th summoning spell.

A simple fix for this would be to up the pet's level by one, which in turn would mean a pet could potentially hit for 12,14,16 or 18 damage. This allows a player to have a 50/50 chance to summon a pet able to hit magic creatures and also would balance out the strength of the pet for the level with the 16th pet. This is important for Necroes who like to hunt willowisps or lesser mummies which are level appropriate targets at 12th.

Just wondering, do you know what the damage table is for all pets at each level or is there a table for that?

I ask because probably the most annoying thing I have found as a necro is the inabilty to determine the level of my pet.

I do not know the damage table for every level. Best thing to do is to just keep an eye on the damage output. Usually there is a 4 level range so expect to see 4 different Peak damage swings.
