I had massive lag hit about 3-5 mins after playing...it starts gradually then lags so bad it becomes unresponsive. (first t3-5 min are normal and perfect)

Am using 8.1, have tried the following:
- my ISP is fine other MMO work with no lag.
-Tried compatibility mode (all of them)
-Adjusted frame rate and graphics (I have a 2 gig dedicated card)
-checked all files
-reinstalled the patch's listed
-Ran in WINEQ (same lag as stated above)

Any advice would help.

Don't troll tech discussion.

OP - is this frame rate lag, or network lag?

I am running on a Laptop 2 gig graphics card (dedicated) 16 gig of Ram.
I am replacing my router today but don't think that's the issue.
EQ Live EQ2 and Rifts all run with no lag.

So to recap:

-Adjusted frame rates (didn't work)
-Tried every compatibility Mode (didn't work)
-Tried reinstall (didn't work)
-Adjusted firewall to allow specific program through (didn't work)
-Turned off Firewall (didn't work)
-Turned down all graphics settings (didn't work)

The game runs perfect for the first couple of minuets then slowly starts to lag until it gets totally unresponsive.

Sounds to me more like a memory problem. Open the task manager when this starts happening, then click the performance tab and see if your page file or something else is getting too big

are all your drivers up-to-date?

Could also be a bad video card though I would look at that as a last ditch item. I've had that happen to me in the past. My issue was zoning, every time I zoned it took longer, and longer until it got in excess of 5-6 minutes to zone. Replaced the card and all was well

Also with 8.1, are you running from the desktop view or from the Start or Apps view?

I have found that I have issues with some apps if I run from the start or apps view...

So far so good, I think I have gotten the issue fixed! thank you all for the replies, I appreciate it.

-I moved the main EQ file from C: to C: program files (32) and used WINEQ2.
-Adjusted power settings.
