I've tried to reinstall twice now so I can break down and give into my addiction of everquest. I have access to my loginserver/eqemu/p99 accounts, I've changed my eqhost to login.eqemulator.net:5998, and I've also tried to reset my modem. I keep getting "Unable to connect to server, please see our help guide blah blah" every time I try to log in. Please help me, thanks a bunch.

I get it every now and again too but I usually can log right in after it fails once. Maybe just check if your firewall is blocking it because you seem to have everything the way it should be. Also just a shot in the dark..Try changing your passwords on eqemu and the login server account.

UPDATE: I've tried to unblock port 5998 but my ISP said they don't block any ports.. I've allowed the port through windows firewall and I've tried resetting the modem from the ISP... any info would be great, considering I've only had 2 suggestions in the past 20 hours =/ Thanks
Edit: Okay, I figured out I had to put a 2 after login on the eqhost.txt .. but now I'm getting a memory error when I select the server. I feel like some higher power is preventing me from playing ;( any info?
Edit2: wow not its not establishing a connection again.. WTF this is bogus!!!!!!!!!!!
Edit: Fixed. Was resolution disagreement error. Thanks for everyones help. Not.

I cant get to the server list, when I try to log in it says it cant connect to the server and check to see if I am connected to the internet. Eqhost looks fine
[LoginServer]
Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998
The weird thing is if I put in a wrong password it doesn't give me a wrong user name or password error ,it just gives the cant connect the server message. Shouldn't the login server detect a wrong password and tell me?
Rogean

If you can't connect to the server, how is the loginserver going to tell you anything?
Anyways...
Open up a command prompt and type ping login.eqemulator.net
Report the IP it gives you.

Yep that's the wrong IP.
Change your eqhost to login2.eqemulator.net
You've got either a really horrible dns server or a modified host file. Changing to eqlogin2 might fix it. If it doesn't, ping that and give IP as well.

Changing eqhost fixed it, THANKS. Well I logged in and all my characters were gone, I figured out that eqemulauncher had screwed up my files . I ran the P1999 patch again , then I couldn't log in ,it changed the eqhost file back to what didn't work, then it worked after I put the 2 back in.

Okay to fix this all I had to do was change the login to login2.eqemulator.net and then fix my resolution to bypass the memory error via eqconfig. Make sure your p99spell files are up to date and youve linked your accounts together. It took me about a day and a half to figure it all out by myself but eventually I got it. I hope you guys resolve your issues to fulfill your eq needs! Kinda strange that the only thing holding me back was a #2 right after the login for eqhost lol

How do I change my host to add the "2"?
Navigate to your Everquest directory (for example mine is here: D:\Games\EverQuest )
Find the file titled "eqhost" and open it with notepad. Modify it as needed, and resave (be sure you save it as a .txt file)
If that change doesn't work for you, repeat the steps above to revert back.

Odd, now I'm getting the same error regardless if I add the 2 to the host file or not.
Occasionally I'll get past the initial login to the server select, and all are blank.

I just started having this problem right after I linked my project 99 forum account to my login account... I really hope that is just a coincidence
I haven't linked mine and still encountering problems, so I don't think that's it
I've also tried on two different computers, one with Win7 which has never had an issue and also on a Win 8.1 computer. Both computers are displaying the same blank server select screen (I'm no longer receiving a cannot connect error)
I checked my firewall, even disabled it completely and it didn't make a different.
Checked my router settings and those haven't changed at all.
Hardwired in, by passing my router, just to see. No luck there either
I'm at a loss.
At this point I think it's on the eqemulator side

I did not have an account prior to today so I don't know if the new login system applies but I am experiencing the same issues reported above.
I have tried:
[LoginServer]
Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998
and
[LoginServer]
Host=login2.eqemulator.net:5998
I receive the same "cannot connect" error message others have reported.
Suggestions on how I might proceed would be appreciated.

My story:
When I used my laptop at my son's guitar lessons in the waiting room (hard core) that was where I first noticed the blank server selection and long zone times/crashing on zone. I started getting the same issues on my desk top at home and figured it was that host issue with the "2". At the same time websites were loading a touch slow, but still loading. I don't know what exactly happened, but all these blank server selection and long zoning/crash on zone problems started happening. What I did to fix it was literally unplug and plug in every cable/Ethernet/power cord and recycle my modem and router. Instantly all website started loading promptly, and p99 is back to normal. I guess sediments can build up over time at connection points, so like even the cable going into the wall needs to be reseated every so often. GL!

I still haven't been able to login unfortunately and unfortunately you have the same problem as us because it still is doing this and there has been no suggestions or help so you can't fix it like you could with other problems.
Crashed on zoning repeatedly on Saturday. Quit, as I had other things to do in RL.
Now today.
Cannot log in past character select ( I get the human male model... spell files outdated ...errorcode SP-1 )
This happens with both
[LoginServer]
Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998
and
[LoginServer]
Host=login2.eqemulator.net:5998
Any ideas ?

This sort of just worked itself out for me. I think there was a problem with a routing table or something somewhere... not reproduceable, external factors, blah blah blah... be patient and it will be okay.

I have the same problem today. i see the server list but i cant connect to servers p99 and other. I found this posts and I did all the changes but still cant connect, ... But if I use my phone like a modem (3G connection) the game works (It's a different ISP) and if I back to ADSL and dont work again.
I will call my ISP tomorrow but it's strange that they change something in weekend.

Change your eqhost to login2.eqemulator.net
You've got either a really horrible dns server or a modified host file. Changing to eqlogin2 might fix it. If it doesn't, ping that and give IP as well.
I got the exact same problem when I ping, with my eqhost amended as above or without the 2. 100% packet loss.
My Internet Provider is called Logic (out of Bermuda) if that would tell you something.
I can always play P99, usually after several attempts to get past the blank server screen, or the update your spell files' error, or a simple hanging crash at character select. But once I am in I tend to have from 2 to 8 linkdeaths per 2 hour session.
My lagmeter in the top left is always at 100% when I disconnect, whereas in real EQ I remember that 100% would start counting down when a linkdeath was imminent.
If this is a "horrible dns server" causing my problem, is that a conversation I should be having with my ISP? How can I help them to troubleshoot?
Thanks.
