Request of staff: PVP dev forum

Every constructive thread gets turned to garbage within a matter of hours, it's just the nature of a server community pitted against each other all the time and the product of having the vocal minority trolls out in force here 24/7.

Would it be worth considering adding a subforum for PVP development? There is a PVP bug forum, but a heavily moderated forum where we can as a community discuss ideas like PVP resists, possible server population growth ideas, mechanics changes (such as zone plugging), etc would be pretty cool.

I think a lot of us would appreciate a chance to interact directly with Alecta, Derubael and Sirken without having to sift through dozens of garbage posts. Half the staff responses here get buried in between layers of shit talking and other nonsense.

Is there a way this PVP dev forum would only allow people of significance to speak? Such as Heartbrand(king of the newbs), Lite(second most organized/hardcore), Nizzar(king neckbeard).

Could throw in some other people such as Rexx, Kringe, Powered, Deluxee, Terp, Tune, Deka etc.

I don't know, like anyone with a 60 and actual experience over PVP boxes and leading guilds, hell even throw Chewie in even though his response will only be what makes things worse for the noobs he griefs and what's counter to popular opinion.

Only allow people who know what the fuck they're talking about to post, bam we might actually get somewhere.

These forums are filled with nobodies who haven't even hit max level, let alone have lead anything significant or have multiple 60's on Red, yet they talk about memories and opinions of 1999 like it's relevant to a low pop EMU, and possible to get that type of gaming back.

That would be ridiculous. I know less EQ than Lite but that guy is so self-serving that I would not trust him on not trying to push something that would benefit him personally in-game.

What that forum would need is active moderation that removes access to the forum as soon as someone posts "LOL MORAN" type posts like Bamzal and Chewie (and myself sometimes, which i would not partake in, in that type of discussion platform) do often. Maybe only allow accounts that are older than 3 months to prevent people like Cast from trying to disrupt it.

If the majority of people who actually played here spoke about why this place sucks I'm confident they would come up with good ideas, if it was open to the public, it'd be as bad as these forums with mostly idiots who don't play, haven't made it, are going off emotions of 1999.

Maybe a system like DAOC origins has then that links account to forum accounts, and then only allow people with 40+ accounts to participate.

Again i think it would be a nice idea but considering the weirdness of Sirkens posts where hes not even aware of what Derus position is on xp nerf, im starting to suspect that GMs are just mouthpieces for the upper echelons and that devs arent interested in debates about what they implement. So if Rogean says xp nerf is a good thing, thats Sirkens and Derus position, which they will then make public on the forums. Just dont see them puttin in time to do that sort of thing.

It's not a terrible idea OP, but a better solution would be to clean up this forum. They've said that they will, I think it's just a matter of them finding the time now.

Thats the only thing they need to do really. Just clamp down hard on trolls for 2-4 weeks so they get bored of creating accounts and leave. And by trolls i dont mean people whose opinion on stuff differs from Derubael's

Even with a cleaned up forum there still needs to be a place for some boasting over victories, people asking questions, people trying to create premade groups, etc. I just think it would be nice to go into a subforum knowing everything in there is related to server mechanics, possible changes etc. I think it would also be beneficial to the devs/staff to consolidate posts that will generally be ones asking for their feedback into a heavily moderated and separated environment.

Could create Thread tags like WTB (like PVP discussion or something) as a prefix to thread.

Yeah, or how the bug report forums work. Staff could make polls/threads like when they made the teams thread - ask for feedback and after it is read delete the post to keep the thread clean.

If we want our voices to be heard we better start giving it to the staff in a way they can digest it. If I were them I sure as shit wouldn't want to sift through 12 pages of garbage to find the 2 or 3 decent posts in the thread.

I agree with OP that it's a good idea, but in reality from what I've seen in my 6 or 8 months on the box, it won't make much of a difference.

Better yet, only accounts who have donated $ get to post in the dev. forum.
