Anyone else excited we may see it again someday with P99? :) It is a ways away, but that zone is one of the most special to me... I more or less left my raiding guild to bind there and would log on and play there for a couple months.

I LOVED PoM. Was my home for a long time, unfortunately I think it'll be kinda sucky on P99 now that everyone knows the deal. Most people seemed to be clueless about it on Live until it ended up in GD.

plane of mischief was truly a hidden gem on rodcet nife. i think i can remember most of the names of, and count on 2 hands, the people that consistently did it with me.

So Mischief is my baby. I played here pre-revamp on live, and to this day own the only Mage robe on Xegony :).
During original beta on this server last July/August I went through and got rid of every post-nerf spawn there, and added in just about every classic spawn. I scripted just about every quest and hail/response that there was. I abandoned it before it was done because we decided on a release date for the server and started working towards that.
What still needs to be done:
1) Loot-needs to be done completely, not terribly hard here as there were not a ton of drops
2) Need to make the trees in the forest spawn those flower things when you get too close to them
3) Need to make the dispel traps on the bridge above the moat functional
4) Verify all combines in the containers work
5) Aeolwind needs to create the script for the halflings to path into the theatre and take their seat when they spawn (All the paths are created)
6) The entire Bristlebane spawning/depopping needs to be scripted
7) Some pathing needs to be added in the maze, the spawns all look good
8) I need concrete data on the jovial white knight, and the maniacal dark knight as far as spawn conditions go and what they would actually sell. I got alot of conflicting data on these
9) In the main hall the invisible mobs with names are there but the halfings are also up. Need to add a script to make them spawn once the chest is attacked rather than stay up 100% of the time
10) I broke the halflings in the forest pathing around the chest while trying to tweak it, just need to fine tune that up.
11) Need to verify spawn loc's of Slice and Dice in the upsidedown wing.
So in not looking in depth at this in awhile, that is what's left, all the other spawns look great, all the quests work. Pinky's knock knock joke works, the sphinx's do the macanera dance, the npc's who responded to hails, all respond to hails, including Life's deathtouching.
The zone looks great at the moment and anyone who did not get to experience it in the past is in for a treat. Once velious launch is done and well underway we have tossed around the idea of implementing armor quests for each class. Sony never did that before they scrapped it and fucked it all up. That decision likely won't be made until it is decided on where the server will go post velious.
That said, if anyone has any further info to add feel free to PM me. We have a good chunk left to do for Kunark so I will not be getting back to this zone until that's all set. You should all be excited for this though!

My friend and I did Bristlebane on PEQ. I'm pretty sure 1.0 didn't drop all those badass weapons lol. It was a pretty fun event tho! We we only ornate/tov gear'd but we took him on with our 30man bot team (between the 2 of us). Maybe the rest is 1.0, but BB for sure is upgraded.

that goes for everything we play though. almost all the player base here knows the secrets of most of the game...or at least, is highly familiar with them.
PoM is very restrictive.
The only entrance is in the north wing of ToV. This, alone, makes accessing the zone very very difficult.
If you die in the zone without being bound there your CR may be the most difficult one you have ever had. If you do bind there getting out of the zone safely is not the easiest thing in the world either.
The result: few ppl CAN go. fewer ppl will WANT to go. The zone will almost always be near empty, and restricted to those who truly love the zone.

You were unsuccessful in not coming off like a dick.
There's lots of things that are done, as we come across them. There are also areas which are done by those way more familiar with them than others.
Example.. last night I found the EVENT_DEATH message for a chetari adolescent and Zlandicar while going through some screenshots. They were added even though Velious isn't out yet.

I went to one of the original fan faires and smedley himself told me PoM in its originally envisioned form was never finished, and would never be finished, because the guy whose baby it was didn't work there anymore. I always wondered what the ultimate goal for the zone was.
On Tunare I was bound in PoM as soon as ToV got on farm status. I was even a pretty active poster on the plane of mischief boards. I just got super nostalgic for my crazy cleric armor. It was a miracle I even got the two piece I did considering how hard the zone was for a cleric without some backup and how rare the cards were. I quit live just before the revamp.

Jeice,
Thought I was pretty clear saying I did that work last July/August and I would not be returning to finish it until after Kunark is done. There were not alot of people who played in PoM 1.0, but for those who did, they typically consider it the most fun zone ever made. I made the reply here to let those people who want PoM 1.0, that is will be here in all it's glory. Don't worry, Kunark is being diligently worked on, try to read posts in their entirety though please.

I think part of the p1999 PoM experience should be making the throne cards not so nonsensically rare :)

Shiny Brass Idol
Locket of Escape
yep, those are the two key items to make the trip.
it isn't easy to get to the zone in with a shiny brass idol. and, if you have the guts to try, a failure means your corpse is stuck somewhere en route in ntov.
on my wizard i would sneak in and bind during a ntov raid....on my bard, later in luclin, i would make the run.
i recall needing the duration (6 min?) bard speed, brass idol, and bard DA to make it all the way....but i certainly don't claim to be the best at making the run. i also recall getting all the way to the doll house once, and not being able to click it because of all the mobs covering it up that i was training.
horrible CR...
again, risk v. reward...many players are just put off by this type of risk, especially since getting to the zone is only the beginning. once i got in on my bard it meant pretty much staying there for at least a few rl days at a time worth of playing before leaving the zone.
i don't doubt lots will go...but it certainly isn't going to be super packed. i'd say busy would mean 10 ppl in the zone at peak play times, if that.

low quality youtube video of someone making the run. I think they are a paladin, that extra DA would help a lot :)

mischief will be incredibly poop socked when NToV is down, I assure you. I made this run all of the time on my enchanter... and I was KOS in ToV period (giant faction), was an absolute blast making it through every time. Never died though. The only time I died, was trying to move my wizard there. She did not stand a chance, even with a Shiny Brass Idol in inventory. The trick is to wait to use the idol just before the flurry drakes are ontop of you. Sadly, the other trick I often used was waited until rival guilds had NToV, and just train through.... :D

For someone who quit shortly after Velious was released would someone mind explaining what was so fun about PoM? I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of the stuff I missed back in the day. The only raids I ever participated in were the old world locales (PoF, PoH, Naggy, Vox, and Phin).

It was a very unique zone where the devs actually nailed the "theme" of the plane (mischief). There were tons of riddles and strange shit, and the loot took ages to create. It was a labor of love where players would solo PoM for months to finally make an item or discover something new. It was one of the few zones that made you think and experiment instead of just autoattack your way to victory. Unfortunately, the zone was never 100% complete, some things still remain mysteries and only 8 sets of class armor were made (priests, casters, and monks). Even those sets sometimes had a missing piece iirc.
If you ever played Winter's Roar (Shards of Dalaya), Rivervale is a very similar zone and I feel they were trying to capture the essence of Plane of Mischief there. Lots of strange NPCs, dialogues, and loot, with an extremely difficult questline to try to piece together. Very many ways to accidentally die. The zone, like PoM, had an "atmosphere" and life of its own.
I spent a long ass time in that zone and never got very far, was sad to recently see that the entire questline is solved and available on the wiki for anyone to complete. I got stuck on the "hand a random item to a random NPC" stage. :(
