When I was first playing the wife and I had scads of three ring binders with maps, notes and other papers to help us get around.
Eqatlas was a great thing to have.
This is a morror of Eqatlas, but with classic maps only. Quests, bestiary and such are a little polluted with dross from some crazy game.

There is about a dozen of EQ Atlas mirrors.

It would be nice to know if there is a better one...

I'm not really sure what you're asking for, but if you go into some more detail I can get you a link to whatever it is.

I like the EQAtlas classic look. I was going to add some to the wiki from what I recall and the quests I actually do, I was looking for some maps to use on my iPad while I play.
If it had bestiary and quests that would be nice. I poked around the link I posted, if there is a better tailored mirror great. Did Muse release the EQAtlas pages for people to use in other places?
No I don't want a widget on the screen leading me through quests, surrounding my target with sparkles and putting big question marks on their head.
yuk.

If you want purely classic maps, it's going to take a lot of effort and some luck on your part.
Start here:
http://web.archive.org/web/20000511085510/http://everquest.allakhazam.com/
Earliest archive of allakhazam. Allakhazam isn't the ideal resource of classic information, but in this case, it has what you want.
Click on Zones
Starting here, you'll see links to community submitted maps. Many of these look pretty cool, and outline various things.
http://web.archive.org/web/20000620121022/http://everquest.allakhazam.com/maps/Norrath_Zone_Map.jpg
http://web.archive.org/web/20000622071444/http://everquest.allakhazam.com/maps/Travelers_Map_of_Norrath.jpg
From here, you can go to the planes and each continent, and from there, specific zones. Each zone will have links to more community submitted maps. The luck part will depend on whether the maps were archived. Most will have been. Those hosted offsite, like the Taken's maps, weren't so fortunate.
Jus Divinum's maps are pretty good. They have a hand drawn and a digital map of most zones.

http://web.archive.org/web/20091027145509/geocities.com/drakkaen/permafrost/permafrost-final.jpg
Many of the maps went into GREAT detail:

http://web.archive.org/web/20001109201800/http://everquest.allakhazam.com/maps/PoF-Master.JPG
So from these examples and links, you should be able to compile a new three ring binder to your satisfaction.
