Do many EQ P1999 players plan on playing Pantheon?

I plan on spending about 3 years wildly anticipating it, then about 2 weeks playing it and being dissapointed.

I most definitely will however one concern is that they will modernize it too much. When Brad said they didn't want to 'just make a modern version of EQ' I started to get worried.

to assume the game will be so horrible is kinda jumping it. Post Ks they already have $110,000 in pledges... Not to diss EQ, but how many times can you play it through velious (the max P1999 expansion) before getting bored?

This. I've taken a couple breaks from the game since kunark, but I've also spent months playing 30 hrs a week. I figure I could enjoy another 12-18 months of kunark farming, playing alts, doing a new side project now that I've burned out on solo challenge, etc. Velious will be good for about as long as kunark has been so far, or longer if I make new friends or have more rl buddies return to play alts with.

You're seriously asking how long before we get bored of a 14-year-old game we still play all of the time? I'd wager that if someone is offering P99 in ten years we will probably still play it.

What really turned me off is that they were releasing information about the classes... and they sound exactly like all of the EQ classes, except they are split into two "specs"... it didn't feel right and I kind of tilted my head in confusion.

I originally pledged on kickstarter, but learned I wouldnt get to see anything until maybe 2017, so I will wait until a tech demo is made and playable.

I really like their desire to make a professional group based game, but there two things that concern me:
1. They are really going for super complex and detailed right off the bat. Putting themselves in a design corner.
2. No detailed published plan on how to get from here to there.

Regardless, I wish them success and fortune, and look forward to the tech demo.
