Currently have the minimum package for internet only from AT&T and Directv package, got whatever was cheap when first moved out now looking for something much better.
Was looking at the Charter packages and canceling both. What do you have, pay, and are you happy with it?

I always just look to see who has the fastest internet in my area and then see prices. Comcast could only get me 4mbs and AT&T has me at 18mb/s for the same price.

I use Comcast.
Get about 40mb download speed, ~10-15 upload speed. This is with three people who are either on their computers 24/7, or streaming something on the TV.
I have one HD DVR box and have the full line-up of HD channels aside from showtime, HBO, extra sports, etc.
Bill is $105, and Comcast has been really great for the few times that I have moved or had minor service problems in the past three years. Plus I am a big fan of OnDemand.

Sound like my wife, she HAD TO HAVE her OnDemand with our cable company: SuddenLink.
I get 30 down 5 up, 1 HD DVR TiVo Box, 1 Tv Mini, 250+ channels all HD, no HBO/Cine/Etc. After tax and everything its 124.00ish.

Comcast, the Deluxe Everything package for TV. The wife demanded it. I would just as soon get digital OTA channels with the perfectly good 30 foot aerial antenna on the house, but I gotta make Mama happy.
Net connection is ~70mbps down and ~12 up. I think we pay somewhere around $125 a month. I had to do some serious haggling to get that rate, though. Your results may vary.
Also, if you have Charter or Comcast, do yourself a favor. Build a halfway decent Windows 7 computer, put a large drive in it, hook it up to your TV and get one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815345006

No TV just internet, stream or pull what we normally watch weekly. $67 a month on Comcast cable. 15Mb down/2Mb up, 250GB a month limit. If something else was available, I'd get it.

What's the point of having fast internet with a ridiculous throughput cap like that?

That's the thing. Internet companies are giving you this amazing bandwidth with a cap simply so you get used to using more bandwidth and hit your cap faster. Then, they will charge you per MB over the monthly allowance. This is what Comcast does in my area. Its complete bullshit and should be illegal.
I come close to my cap every month from all of the streaming people do in my house.
I thought Comcast suspended their caps? On ours, it shows a 250GB cap that's been suspended for like 2 years.
We are on the plan with 50 down, I forget the up, and currently using 400-500GB/month total.

They did or they were suppose to. If your getting charged over your cap you should complain.

canada.. or at least quebec, is fucking bad for limit... unlimited access is crazy expensive, and if you bust your limit, it's crazy expensive too

Cable tv internet access here (KabelBW). I live in germany where that is pretty common. I have 50Mbit/s, could update to 100... but why? It's fast enough. Don't have any download limit either.
