would any tech-savvy people be able to contest whether or not this would be a possibility? even if it were a difficult process, if possible i think that it could be a HUGE assist to many people that are cautious to acts of piracy.
ideas?

This is only something the developers at P99 could do and I suspect there would be even more limitations than we already have if it's even possible. Seeing how they were having issues with supporting the Underfoot client then I suspect there would be a TON more issues, limitations and incompatibilities. They'd likely be doing more than twice the work patching each client and would turn into a nightmare having people running different clients.
I'm pretty sure if they could do this then they would have. It would be nice to just get the client from their website, but yeah I don't think it's going to happen and there are probably good explanations for it. Also what people do to get the game is all on them.
Do most emulated servers here need the Titanium client aside from the ones that use more up to date content? It's likely they took the client that would be the least hassle and be most compatible with what people are trying to do on them for emulating. Obviously the fact of having uniformity in the clients people use. I just have a feeling there was a lot of research in the decision of using Titanium before it was decided to be best fit. The topic is definitely interesting to me and anything I say may be wrong, but it's just what made sense in my mind. If anyone knows anymore or has more input then definitely like to hear it, but I think the short answer is no. lol. I had the EQ Evolution pack and I originally figured it would be ok to use and was a bit confused at first why it wouldn't, but I did also think it was Titanium that I had, but when I checked the box realized it wasn't. It has up to LoY. I would think that would have been a better EQ bundle to use. Hm...

I also thought it would make sense to work from the actual base retail vanilla EQ + each expansion seperately. So just for that fact there must be a reason why Titanium was needed. For people who have the base game from the past, retail Kunark and Velious discs you'd think that would be ideal.
Edit: I suspect all of these things have been answered before. I'm sorry! D:

I would imagine the live client is so far from the version we use now it would take a ton of work to get it useable. If it's even possible.

This.
There are probably little to no files on live client that would be usable on p99.

Each version of the client must be implemented in the EQEmu code, since they have different opcodes they support and otherwise aren't backward compatible. So, using the current live client is not possible. Titanium etc. in unpatched form are used because they are known quantities and have been tested with the EQEmu code...
