Is technical, but looking for other players that might have the same issue.

About every 5 seconds i have a spike in GPU from EQ window. here is a pic of what i mean, and wondering if anyone has encountered the same issue and might have a fix? I have tried running one video card, and it didnt help. Seems to be an issue since the latest patch. Have updated drivers, windows, etc. Any help would be apprecaited, or maybe people with similar issues so we can find some common denominators.

I run luclin models(no issues until now). It stops when EQ isnt top window, i also run dual display.

Not related but I feel like a 15 year old game (10ish year old client?) shouldn't heat up my laptop like it does :p

Hope you find a solution.

Try using wineq 2.0. I've noticed it takes care of a LOT of anomalies I've experienced with no rhyme or reason.

Update: This only happens in Kunark zones! I left kunark, came back to EC/WC and had no spiking...

I tried, perhaps one of these will help you. Having dealt with an overheating GPU for 1.5+ years and doing everything from reapplying thermal paste every 3 weeks, removing the bottom cover permanently, eventually propping the laptop at a ~15-20° angle on a book, and running a box fan across it at ALL times.. I empathize.

(I've since built a computer)

Anyway!

Info is slim on Google.

Is a specific heat reached that triggers the freak out? Perhaps zoning into Kunark is triggering the overheating, triggering the instability? Or is it instant as soon as you touchdown in Kunark? Important differentiation.

I would recommend changing the thermal paste, heat is the enemy of computers, and while you are at it obviously dust it out with compressed air or ingenuity. This process is usually simple, quick, and effective.

While I doubt that will fix your problem, it won't make it any worse and will likely delay the overheating.

Surprised this hasn't been asked before buuuut... Have you tried a complete fresh install? Perhaps something got corrupted and is causing a graphic hiccup of sorts.

What kind of processor do you have? I notice you are running on a laptop, is there any way you can try running the game specifically on your processor if it does indeed run video? I've had a few games that actually run better on my 4th gen i5 in my laptop than on my dedicated GPU.

There were considerable issues with drivers for this particular SLI setup when it was first released by Lenovo, they have been all but eliminated though. I currently am monitoring GPU processor performance, GPU RAM, and GPU temps as well as all that for the CPU and ram. Heat is not an issue, running rather cool. It stopped immedietly upon zoning into old world, and started as soon as i ported back into Kunark. Also, this is new as of what i can pin point as the last patch or very close to it. Will try fresh install, will let you know.

Fixed: Had a corrupted globalload causing issues in Kunark via kunark models, replaced and fixed now(still running lucling models)
