In my memories, this was given as a GM Event reward post Luclin release.

Are my memories correct or was this also given out during velious ?

thanks!

Earliest record on Alla's is from Aug 2001, which is a few months before Luclin.

Oakwynd was kind of meh pre-AM3/EQ and especially pre-Trueshot.

Its before Luclin.

I saw Al'Kabor out in front of KC and started spamming nukes on him when he pathed by.

He gave out a shawl or a staff depending on the server and a title something like "of the Nexus"? Something like that.

Some artifacts never got released, Shrouds of Earthen Shadow at the Hole release for example. Tattered Tomb Shroud with awesome stats, yes please.

There's a few ways these could be implemented. I had a thread on this a while back that is, for some reason, locked now: http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96184

i seem to recall players on some servers hating al'kabor so much that they refused to do the quest or tried training him over and over again...

I was on EQ on 9/11. In Gfay. I'll never forget that. (Not being facetious)

Everyone online was like

When I first clicked on the topic the first time I read the title I was thinking "Allah Akbar" or however you spell it. Just made me think back to that horrible day which is deeply tied into EQ for me because I went in game to get my mind off of the suck.

The Al'Kabor events were part of the Luclin lead-up, he was doing experiments on the spires and is responsible for reconnecting them to the Nexus.

From crappy spells to crappy expansions. Thanks Al'Kabor.

A guildmate of mine on Karana had this, I was under the impression it was done when the line of Translocate spells were introduced. I think it was during Velious? Memory too foggy...

It was definitely during velious, you could probably find it in graffe's archives the exact date. a RL friend of mine, Mendar, had it on tunare. He read the reports from other servers and basically skipped HS for a couple days to make sure he was at where the quest started to be able to roleplay all the way through and be rewarded the staff.

It was definitely ridiculous.

Of course on P99 there will never be a Luclin. Al'Kabor's effort to link the spires to the nexus will fail and we will forever be stuck in Velious. For this reason Al'Kabor will deem the wizards on P99 unworthy of wielding his Scepter, leaving us empty-handed.

Or better he fails so spectacularly it explodes and turns North Karana into The Grey =p

It was around that time, but the story was about "Fusibility" of the elements, and I think that's when the Strength of the Elements quest went live.
