The record will show that I left Red Dawn out of my own accord. I left peacefully after helping many people in Red Dawn with nothing in return. The record will also show that many of the loud mouths in the guild immediately started talking shit to me in game and on the forums and still do to this day. I would love it if some people from blue played on red, but I'm not going to stand for Heartbrand lying to them just so he can win.

Sure there's some friction there - pvp is the cause of and solution to that (like alcohol) but if you keep out of ooc (barring trades and general adverts for groups) you should probably be okay.

Note: this is all pre-40. Heard it can get kinda kooky at 40+ and definitely 52+.

Despite the massive amounts of trolling, including the post above me, no fewer than a dozen people have followed up with me due to this post. They have been given gear including mithril arms / greaves / bone razor's / bonecaster robe's / full jewelry such as 55hp rings, and powerlevel, many of them are already level 20+. Ignore the trolling and unhelpful posts and come and try it out! A lot of these people are having a BLAST! Constant guild chat, teamspeak, and groups.

Listen, red is not going to be for everyone, some people just don't fundamentally enjoy the notion of being able to be attacked by other players in this game, especially since yes EQ isn't a "balanced" PVP game by any stretch of the imagination.

This thread was created more so for the many players on blue who have avoided red due to it's "toxic" appearance due to a few "Special" posters on our forums, most of whom don't even play! Many of the people coming over due to this thread really are having a blast.

On Blue, the raid situation can be very bleak and unexciting, especially in Velious. On Red, there's really only two raiding guilds. There's no "waiting in line" for mobs, or waiting for your once every 7 week chance as a class whatever guild to kill Venril Sathir. For many, that's a huge change of pace and exciting! For others, they would prefer the more "relaxed" log in log out method. Neither is "better" I'm just trying to educate people about what red is.

If you're interested in some p99 pve firsts in Velious, want to play with a mature raiding crew that is very friendly, enjoy the Bid DKP System [Daladen as a former Machin Shin member I know you do!], are willing to try something "new" then this is your chance!

With the simulated repops now, you're more likely to get raid spawns on red than blue, even with Nihilum going for everything.

Just wanted to bump this thread with my experience so far. Saw HB's post about joining red and really had the itch to start a new Rogue, so I thought why not try red? Made a dwarf Rogue, I met a couple guys in the Lowbie grounds, joined up with Red Dawn and have had a great time. Balou/Ricardo helped out with some awesome weps and a few MR resist pieces, 55 5ac rings etc. Now you're thinking untwinked melee on red? Thats suicide !! Actually its been awesome.

Went to Unrest, always found groups or high lvls from guild willing to help with buffs. Now lvl 30 in MM, always able to find at least a partner, met some good pals and bros and am having a great time leveling up. Theres a group of us around lvl 30, some lvl 15-23, etc. So far its been a blast and I haven't looked back.

Enchanter is 28 now, don't be worried about the low pop. Makes it even easier to level in some ways.

You still get the sliding exp scale 1-50 on red. I usually end up soloing on both blue and red. So I find it faster on red :) that and its quite easy to get low/mid level camps to yourself.

If you can solo it is easier to lvl on red no doubt. Wouldn't want to start a rogue or warrior though unless you know you are going to get some decent PL.

If raiding talendor with 19 people sounds exciting to you, competing in velious with guilds rather than with waiting lines and class z class x class y class wtf guild status etc., is something intriguing to you, if a tighter knit community where everyone knows everyone and you form real bonds seems like something you'd like, give it a shot and shoot me a pm!

to anyone on the fence, after starting on red and joining RD its like a whole new game. an almost survivalist aspect to eq combined with a group of close knit buddies ive made with fellow newbies and RD members provides for all the best parts of EQ with a hint of DayZ. I've been debating converting to Red since the moment I made my character on blue. I've got two questions:

1) Is it like the old RZ where you can loot one non-no drop item that isn't being held, or in a bag?

2) Could I get an update on sought after classes?

No item loot at all, you just get coin off someone you kill and can see the gear they had equipped I think.

Clerics far and away the most desired class, but I think that wizards, rogues, enchanters, bards, maybe tanks also are always appreciated.

This is how red is! I feel this way and I haven't even settled on a guild, but I still chat with more people who are (generally!) more friendly on red than I do on blue where there are 10x the people and most of them recognize my name.

Grief doesn't equal pvp in my opinion. Killing new players while wearing a fungi and VP weapons or what not isn't skill at all. Killing naked players isn't skill. Rooting players on mobs or shouting hate speech at them isn't skill. I strongly believe that one can have a lot of fun pvping and being competitive while simultaneously not being a psychopath. Luckily the newly established red99 PnP has helped somewhat to make that a reality.

I think because I played on the server with all the trolls, mass griefers and odds heavily stacked on one side.

I'm so accustomed to it, I think I actually prefer it that way!

Make another Sullon Zek that's what I say! Watch half the server reroll Evil within weeks!
