Pretty much is donating for charity since there is nothing actually forcing them to release. Pretty sure it can be a tax write off as a business investment or a charity, seeing as how you're not getting anything in return.
There really needs to be a site dedicated to crowd funding video games specifically.

But you can deduct any RMT losses up to $3000 in excess of your total capital gains against your ordinary income Sektor.

Maybe you can deduct the difference between your donation and what you are receiving in return.
1,000
-exp pots on 15 year old emulated server
-raffle for an item on a 15 year old emulated server
-early access to a 13 year old expansion
You can deduct 1,000 from your taxes.
Those dumb IRS agents, only if they knew the value of emulated server pixels.

The kickstarter project would have to be started by a 501c3 organization in order for your donations to be tax deductible.
Or as Heartbrand said, "no".

If the project is a 501(c)(3) organization, then you can deduct it on your taxes.
Pantheon is NOT a 501c3 (non-profit), therefore you cannot write it off.
