A good soloing class that isn't useless grouping?

Playing with a group of friends, and I have no idea what class I want to choose. I tried the necromancer to 5 and didn't like the pet system. Being a rogue felt like the necromancer without spells or a pet to be honest. Anyone have a suggestion here? Maybe a couple? =)

Mage, Necro, Druid, Shammy and Wizard. All good at solowing IMHO

If you don't want to use a pet, then that rules out the Mage and Necro, and somewhat the Shaman. I'd suggest druid then. They can heal which makes them wanted in groups, and can solo pretty well also.

Nah, don't rule out the shammy's. They are not pet dependent like the other classes are. They are a good class that can solo without a pet.

Don't judge any class by level 5, they will all dissapoint. Necros are the best class in the game, all the others suck.

Druids are a good addition to any group, bards too.
And to a certain extent Shadowknights (in the right situation).
