Hello to all!
Just creating a thread to introduce myself. EQ was my first MMO and of course will always be looked back on as the best I've ever played. It really was magical and, as my username suggests, I am looking forward to joining the community here at Project 1999 to try and discover some of that magic again. I've had it with today's model of MMOs. I'm constantly flopping back and forth between titles.
While in bed last night, my wife and I were discussing our 'firsts' in terms of MMO games. Final Fantasy 11 was her first and, like me with EQ, she was terribly addicted to it. I started reminiscing, speaking tales of my bard and my first experiences in Norrath in late 1999/early 2000. Fast forward to today, and google brought me to Project 1999. I probably won't relive my past as a bard, as I don't think my old wrists could keep up with the twisting nowadays, but I'll be out there killing snakes and rats soon. Time to see if some things are better left to memory!
I still haven't decided on a class, but when I do I will update this thread with my details. Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this. Looking forward to seeing you in game! Also, a big thank you to the developers of this project. I'm sure a donation will be coming very soon.

Hey welcome to the fold! I totally get what you're saying about MMO "firsts" and I think that's what attracts so many of us back to EQ and P99 specifically. Hope you enjoy the classic server and hope to see you in game.

welcome! glad to see another new player join the server! my biggest advice is to ignore the forums and use ingame a your social sphere for this server the boards are a toxic waistland and does not reflect the daily goings of our beloved time capsule ! i actually just made a new charater today and would love to help you get started feel free to pm me for any server questions/if youd like to group up ! look forward to seeing you in game! and welcome back to norrath

Thanks for the welcomes! Well I decided to start my Project 1999 journey with a Monk named Paduma. The first night was great. Had a really great Shaman help me out for a long time with some buffs and heals while I beat the heck out of bears. Thanks Yobro! I'm looking at the clock and realizing I have to get up for work in a few short hours. It's like nothing has changed one bit!
Happy Hunting!

Welcome! I'd say pick a class you always wanted to play back in the day and run with it. I hugely enjoyed my first real character on P99 (SK) and have made another one :D

Totally relate to the OP. Had many a good memories bitd with EQ. I started playing after the Kunark release -- started out with a human monk + was handed a rusty halberd by someone in some guild (it was so long ago) and wandered off to my many deaths.
Well....life takes hold & here I am dozen + years later hoping to regain some of the fun times or just stumble around like a lost pixel in an imaginary land. Luckily; I have had the good fortune of bumping into a few nice people: one even gave me banded armor and few things to make my life easier. Us Iksar Warriors seem to be something most people cringe at by the opinions & comments I've had so far given to me (reroll, why?, you're gonna have a tough time, etc...)
Many cheers to all the staff on this accomplishment. I could see myself donating if this peaks my interests as much as I HOPE it will. Hope to see you around!
