So in Beta there was a level 51 shark called Megalodon. He got removed because the pathing for fish sucked. On live they eventually fixed fish pathing, here they haven't (razorgills in Blackburrow and the sharks in QCat are pretty bad). I remember I got my server GM (who I am still friends with today) to actually spawn him and he went on a terror spree in Lake Rathetear before it was decided that was a bad idea.
It seems they eventually added him in the Veil of Alaris expansion (not sure which one that was, I left around LDoN). It would be cool, if we can get fish pathing fixed (which would be cool in its own right) to see Megalodon come back.

That is the (a) version they added in later yeah. Original was just "a megalodon", was level 51, had normal shark model and probably just shark meat for loot (when they removed him from the game Vox did not even have loot yet)

100% sure. It was in beta and verrrrrry early release (gone by Aug 99 definitely). Verified by Dan Enright aka Yakatizma, who was my server GM (as Ignaurus) before he became the tradeskill dev.

This shark is only put out in GM events. He was taken out of the game (During BETA) cause he had major pathing troubles.. Like swimming up shore lines and being able to attack while doing so. Nothing is inside that big cave, cept some deepwater gobs and a few high lvl quest NPC. Theirs only 1 true screenshot of Megalodon, It was taken during BETA from the front view. Nothing special looking, just a over sized shark. He was lvl 50 and hit for 120 in quads. If this shark is somehow reimplemented in the game its either the biggest EQ secret or the largest EQ hype. Either way hes nothing special to look at, just take a screen shot of regular shark, apply it to a paint shop program stretch the textures of the SS about 10 times over. envision the name Megalodon and there you go.
Sounds legit.

This was a thread back on the Ruin of Kunark forums that were up before its release. Friend of mine archived them for his guild, and someone else archived that archive lol. You can navigate the thread pages using the page numbers up top (but not bottom). I was Aalyn (and 15 lol) fun nostalgic reading for sure. I noticed the star in Ak'Anon doesnt do the door open sound in 1999.

Clairvoyance is more or less, nothing.
But basically on a spell cast you have a small chance to recover your total Clairvoyance amount back in mana. IE you have 1,000 Clairvoyance, every like 50th spell cast you will get 1,000 mana back.
The proc chance on it is so low, that it is irrelevant.
Spell DMG / Heal Amount are where its at though.

Megalodon was real. It existed before launch, but was removed. The speculated reason was that pathing was horrible and they had issues with it swimming out of the lake, etc.

About that 'arrow-launching tank' that the gnomes are driving on the cover of the book, I know someone RL who says he met some gnomes who challenged him to a deul and then drove up this tank. Of course he was a barbarian and he said it was more like a short wall with holes in it, and it barely reached up to his waist. He also said he was hit by arrows...for about one damage apeice. The gnomes gave up quickly.
This is why we can't take sources from 1999 as gospel.

there is a man on the youtube that has invented a machine that can generate unlimited energy...he has video and science substantiating his claim. the government is trying to suppress this information because it is a serious risk to the status quo military industrial complex...

"Live is so stupid, why can't a 14 year old game have 4 AC 10 STR 100 HP gear drop from every expansion? WHY INCREASE STATS, WHY NOT KEEP MOBS WITH THE SAME HP AND LOOT FOR 20 YEARS!?!"
It is funny. EQ had* done one of the best jobs handling gear inflation up until about SoF. Then they just failboated. It made all prior raids basically useless and if you weren't raiding the most recent expansion you were better off grouping since group gear was better.
But for the first 12-13 expansions they managed it pretty well.

yeah...eq has handled itemization pretty well for such an old game. there are still plenty of items in my bags that i have been carrying for years. can't think of a single other mmo that has done that nearly as well as eq.
the big number shock is kinda funny though when you look at current top high end items from last few years.

FFXI handled it really well for a while. My adaman hauberk which came out with their 1st expansion still IS a good item (although nowadays everyone goes for the HQ version, Armada Hauberk) once its properly been synth'd. Well, unless the most recent one changed that. Also, they didn't inflate stats much until they started raising level limits, things became situational/side grades.
