In Defense of Tune

As a completely impartial person on the Red server with one level 60 and several 52+ characters, I have to say that a lot of the complaining I read about Tune on the forums is a little over the top.

While I leveled my character, Tune was a nice guy every time I talked with him. He bought my bone chips and excellent sabertooth tiger pelts for a lot of plat that helped me build up my character, he'd sow me with his VP sword whenever we crossed paths, and even group with me and help me regen my mana quickly when he had free time.

Once I hit 52, I was fair game. I got killed by him quite a few times. He even found my secret hiding spot in Burning Woods and would check and kill me every time he passed through the zone. But hey.... IT'S A PVP SERVER! I didn't whine or flame him, I wasn't a douche about it, and you know what? He would only ever kill me once... even when he killed me right on top of my own bind point. He never coined me. Not once. He never once attacked me while I was fighting something and risked me getting an XP death from the monster.

I'm not saying he's a saint. No one on this server is... the toxicity of just witnessing /ooc chat on this server for a week will leech into your soul. Is he more ruthless against rival guilds? (ie; red dawn, azrael) Probably. Did he violate the PnP policy? Probably. Should that result in a perma ban? No way.

The ONLY things that should get a person perma banned are RMT and using 3rd party programs to gain an edge in pvp. Period.

Personally, I feel bad for the guy. He obviously invested alot of time in his character, and to have it permanently taken away by a newly introduced policy that even the GMs admit has too many gray areas and misunderstanding seems extremely uncool.

Oh, and since I know that this post will get flamed and trash talked non stop. I don't mind admitting that my main characters are Railgun and Lusk. Both unguilded and one 60 and one 56. I like many people in both Red Dawn and Nihilum, and have both given and received assistance from many people in both guilds.

Being on the top of any server will make the masses QQ for days, months, and in this case years. Its just sad GMs listened to said masses just because they were the crying underdog. I dont know Tune personally but from the evidence hes posted, such as pvp logs of killing some one six times in the course of three months while the victim claimed 60+ is just getting old. If you're going to ban the man then at least man up devs and give the real reason of you all wanted him off the ser er. Saying he was banned for a bs pnp call is ridiculous.

Personally, I feel bad for the guy. He obviously invested alot of time in his character, and to have it permanently taken away by a newly introduced policy that even the GMs admit has too many gray areas and misunderstanding seems extremely uncool.

Uthgaard (an ex-GM) banned my account on blue over some ridiculous trivial shit. A 44 druid that took me 6 months to level. I helped Rogean test out the pvp components that probably eventually became Red99, by playing capture the flag in plane of sky with other players on blue. I helped Rogean test out some chat channels functions. None of this mattered when i mentioned it to uthgaard. He threw away the key and none of my appeals got heard or cared about. He even gave my private appeal thread 5 stars when i started to get steamy a bit that he would so casually, idiotically ban someone like that. My dad was dying of cancer in my home around that time so i got angry easier than i normally would because of all the pressure that responsibility brought on me. I never got a single written answer about that appeal by none of the staff, just uthgaard being cheeky like haha i banned your account and youre angry, by rating my thread 5 stars. I mean i assume its Uthgaard, i cant be sure but its someone that can see private appeal threads.

The reason Uthgaard banned me, in an exchange that lasted about 3 tells, in which i stayed polite and non-insulting, was me telling Uthgaard that cherry picking which players got to keep their rule breaking name gave a corrupt cop flavor to GMing. Bam, banned. Respect my authoritay. Theres an interesting story around why i said that to him but i dont want to drift off too much. To make a short story, GM claims on forums here hes a hard ass on names that break the rules, i find a picture of him on the forums, Coach-football team like around 10 players with names like Astro Physics and link it to him in a forum post like right, lol. He logs in the game, and makes me change my name (Taxi Driver) on the spot.

Even Sirken who is alot better than Uthgaard has his moments. When my nephew broke his arm and my mom came home to me like gogogo were going to the hospital nao i left EQ opened and my bind point was in the water at pots. So when i came back 6 hours later or something my character had deleveled from 2 bubs to 59 to 53 in the drowning death loop. I explained all this to Sirken and asked him if it was possible for him to rez me back to 59. He came to me halfway at 55 and i was like whatever, i was a bit dissapointed but it was my fault so. He then tells me something that is sort of a giveaway that he doesnt play on the box. He told me xp is easy on red compared to blue. Sort of, stop being a baby and get grinding its not so bad. Yeah its so easy that it took me 2 weeks, 8 hours a day of killing that dwarf in butcher that they nerfed because the xp he gave was too good and easy, to get from 54 to 58. I know exactly the time it took cuz i worked 8 hours a day selling comics online for 2 weeks alt tabbing each 6 mins to kill that dwarf.

But again, it was my fault so whatever, just thought comment was interesting because revelatory of how sometimes staff dont comprehend the time investment involved in playing the box. So then i ask Sirken if he could move my characters bind point on top of the firepot because if this ever happened again, i will quit for good which at that time i did not want to do. The ONLY reason i asked Sirken that is because the week before, he (or another GM) rebound someone that got cleverly bound away from the pots by other players. By his own fault, his inattention, a player let himself get bound by other players away from his pot bind by allowing himself to be in a group of strangers and letting one of those players cast that bind spell with a long cast duration and its signature sound. Sirken or some other GM later rebound that Nihilum character back at the firepot. If this would have happened on Rallos, people would have clapped like GG! Omg that was clever, devious trick! Well played! But back here in PnP land, he got bound back at the pots. To me that player just lost badly at a chess game. The honorable response should have been shit, you got me there for real, good job. To me theres as much grief there as someone getting "griefed" 9-1 in a game of NHL Hockey 2004. Its a game, not a fucking second life elf simulator.

Sirken tells me no, he will not rebind me 10 feet further on the pots instead of in the water around the pots where i was currently bound. So when i tell Sirken why is that player getting special treatment, especially when that bind was lost through pvp, through cleverness, was it because he was in Nihilum? There had to be a reason that he could explain to me why that player was getting rebound and not me. Sirken then gave me a thinly veiled threat that i did not want to go down that road. He didnt say that he was gonna ban me, didnt openly threathen me with specifically what he was going to do, but i was let known that consequences were coming if i was gonna continue doing what is to me pointing out the 2 weight 2 measures that was getting applied there. Because in the 2 instances, its a player asking for a bind change, i cant see why it was green light for that Nihilum guy and my request was denied. He forced an end to the discussion with threats of consequences. To be perfectly honest, i was just curious to see what the response would be. If i got a better bind of it, cool but either way my curiosity would get satisfied.

it sucks, but it is a legacy item. if an exception is made for you, that would need to be made for lots of other people and removes all integrity. You had to have known where you really wanted to bind before it was nerfed.

as far as making an exception for another player that on good faith was maliciously tricked into losing his bind, i'm sorry i have to agree with that

Just want to personally chime in that every time i encountered Tune in pvp since i came back again, he went out of his way to XP kill me. More then once, which also included training a mob to my bind spot when i was AFK in game at work to attempt to de-level me .

Not because they were raiding and locking down targets. Not because of a previously established vendetta. Just cause he could. And just cause he is a douchebag.

No tears here... i've played EQ since day 1 on every pvp server there was and dealt a lot of grief out over the years.

Point is, As much as he tries to spin it with his Forumquesting the guy is a certified vitriolic douche and deserves no pity.

I only wish his forum acct would be banned also so i dont have to his read his 30 posts a day at work.

Just want to personally chime in that every time i encountered Tune in pvp since i came back again, he went out of his way to XP kill me. More then once, which also included training a mob to my bind spot when i was AFK in game at work to attempt to de-level me .

Not because they were raiding and locking down targets. Not because of a previously established vendetta. Just cause he could. And just cause he is a douchebag.

No tears here... i've played EQ since day 1 on every pvp server there was and dealt a lot of grief out over the years.

Point is, As much as he tries to spin it with his Forumquesting the guy is a certified vitriolic douche and deserves no pity.

I only wish his forum acct would be banned also so i dont have to his read his 30 posts a day at work.


this sounds exactly like Tune's kind of behavior. I swear, when I came upon a level 52 I didn't even have the slightest desire to kill them. This guy went out of his way to do it all day long, not saying it's illegal. But there's clearly something wrong with a player's ideology if they play that way.

Honestly, every encounter I have had with Tune since starting in September has been pleasant.

Yea he attacked me when I was 52, but didn't harass me and Katrasle and said 'good fight' after, which is a step up from what most do.

As stated in pnp discussion and official platina soundtrack jesus would BAN BAN and so he did.

Tune is being very talkative and nice lately, but before the ban he was an elitist asshole. The guy singlehandedly ran around and killing newbies farmed up to 450 kills without a single death which 95% were all pre lvl 54 leveling in various places. I guess that leaderboard #1 backfired hard, thank elderan's numbers (TM) for being so accurate.

Tune reminds me of the guy we all met from live that would not talk to you or reply with "hehe" no matter what you said/asked. He would also run away when you inspected him, these high end pieces of shit that think they are above you because they sunk more time into the imaginary world of norrath. Truly can't be much to them irl if they feel like it's some kind of accomplishment big enough to become a diva over

they need to add a ban resist modifier to gear. the worse the gear, the more the +ban resists it has. it will balance things out a bit on the server because wearing BIS will certainly lead to ban. this will keep a healthy and competitive playing field for whoever is left.

As a completely impartial person on the Red server with one level 60 and several 52+ characters, I have to say that a lot of the complaining I read about Tune on the forums is a little over the top.

While I leveled my character, Tune was a nice guy every time I talked with him. He bought my bone chips and excellent sabertooth tiger pelts for a lot of plat that helped me build up my character, he'd sow me with his VP sword whenever we crossed paths, and even group with me and help me regen my mana quickly when he had free time.

Once I hit 52, I was fair game. I got killed by him quite a few times. He even found my secret hiding spot in Burning Woods and would check and kill me every time he passed through the zone. But hey.... IT'S A PVP SERVER! I didn't whine or flame him, I wasn't a douche about it, and you know what? He would only ever kill me once... even when he killed me right on top of my own bind point. He never coined me. Not once. He never once attacked me while I was fighting something and risked me getting an XP death from the monster.

I'm not saying he's a saint. No one on this server is... the toxicity of just witnessing /ooc chat on this server for a week will leech into your soul. Is he more ruthless against rival guilds? (ie; red dawn, azrael) Probably. Did he violate the PnP policy? Probably. Should that result in a perma ban? No way.

The ONLY things that should get a person perma banned are RMT and using 3rd party programs to gain an edge in pvp. Period.

Personally, I feel bad for the guy. He obviously invested alot of time in his character, and to have it permanently taken away by a newly introduced policy that even the GMs admit has too many gray areas and misunderstanding seems extremely uncool.

Oh, and since I know that this post will get flamed and trash talked non stop. I don't mind admitting that my main characters are Railgun and Lusk. Both unguilded and one 60 and one 56. I like many people in both Red Dawn and Nihilum, and have both given and received assistance from many people in both guilds.

Lets say you average 2.5 deaths per 5 hours, 6 days of this will only set you back 15 hours of mind numbing PVE grinding, that is if you dont take into account the hours it takes to set those groups up.

Like samwise said, a new box is whats needed. I think i had my share of EQ probably forever, maaaaaaybe id play a box that the ruleset looks really nice. Youll never get anywhere with Rogean and friends with their fisher price teletubbies vision for a pvp server. All that Nihilum headstart was totally the fault of devs who were told repeatedly and explained with babysteps how xp loss prevented smaller guilds from contesting zergs. Told that it was dumb to give the vets an added advantage of griefing the fuck out of new players, who will never have any chance to learn a bit the game if they have to run from every pvp encounter because theyre getting their shit pushed in with xp loss and that they were gonna get bled out of the server little by little. All because "This isnt CoD" and they let their judgement be clouded by their PVE vision for a PVP server. Im totally not a griefer, my natural fit is buffing noobs, PLing randoms on my druid on blue for hours in Unrest. But they just dont get what attracts people to a PVP box. They make super bad decisions even though they have all the feedback to think it through on a silver platter given to them, but no community too dumb why care about what they have to say.

Fuckin enjoying DAOC so much, PVPin all night taking keeps, EQ pvp can also be that but not with the teams vision for a pvp server.
