Punishments too Excessive?

Aight look this aint no post where i'm going to cry because I got banned. Well, it is so yal might have to either cry on my shoulder with me or troll like children.

This may have been a tad immature of me but i'm sure EVERYONE has done something similar in the past.

I was bored one day and thought about making a new character. I already knew that I wanted an Erudite Wizard. So, Me being bored I wanted to try some names that i'm sure would have been taken or not allowed to use. So the first name I try for my Erudite, N*****. Unfortunately it worked but I never thought much about it and never thought anyone would be offended since nobody in the game even ever saw the character online... So I make another Erudite wizard and continue playing on him. Next day I try to log on ~ Your account is banned ~...

I mean seriously? One of the GMs contacted me and told me that I would have to find the GM that banned me in the first place so I petition on forums, said sorry and I would delete the character as soon as I was allowed back on the account. I was just being curious and it was really immature of me.

5 days later the same GM posted on the petition:

***We all look at the forums. I'm assuming whoever did this ban was not happy with a player making a character named '******'

im moving this to resolved.***

The good news is you only had 1 day put into your wizard and accounts are free.

I would start a new account and in case there were any items of value that you need back continue to plea for the account to be unbanned. If you get it back move items to new account.

The process may take several weeks so don't waste your time waiting for a wizard you made a day ago.

So what you future GM applicants are saying is, I deserved to have wasted the past 30 days on an account and receive a permanent ban for making a character with an offensive name that nobody has ever seen, nobody would have ever seen, that didn't effect anyone in any way. When I make it out of pure curiosity? I mean between all the African american people here in Georgia, It's the most common name used in this state.

Honestly, I agreed a ban on your account is a bit excessive. But, I think the Gm's are just getting tired of rehashing this stuff. Something as simple as NOT naming your character a derogatory word would be pretty obvious.

Naming Policy
Character names in EverQuest should be thematically consistent with the high-fantasy environment of EverQuest. These guidelines apply both forenames and surnames, and also to the combination produced by a forename and surname.
