56 shaman, just began soloing HS entrance. It was a bit of a shit show at first, but then I figured I had it down. 4 mobs at a time, 3min root + 2 epic dots, repeat once, loot.

But after about 10% exp, a caster skeleton barged into the room and forced me to gate with a bunch of dots on me. He broke root quickly, and the dots did a lot of damage. I doubt I could solo him. Any tips on how to avoid this guy?

Don't hang out by East - he comes to the east entrance and stands closer than the two juggs.

Don't park your mobs near east stairs either. That's it. The SE corner where roamers repop is not safe to park. East skeleton will social agro if you root a mob there. A bit more west of that line is safe.

And has a larger aggro radius because of his higher level, especially if you are sitting down! You don't want to have pets anywhere remotely near east stairs, and you don't want to be rooting stuff you're fighting near the east stairs, and you don't even want mobs to run past the east stairs while trying to get to you.

If you do aggro that fella, you probably should just gate without damaging him. He's almost certainly level 51+, so he can summon you every 10-ish seconds if you knock him down below 97%. At 56, he'll probably be very hard to root, slow, dot, etc, even if you debuff him first.

Thanks for your responses. I must have rooted too close to east. Will give it another shot today.

Have you tried dropping off ent platform to safe spot in ne corner and pulling basement mobs? Theres alot more room to work down there....

There's also wizards, a bunch of pathers, and more HTers though.

`There's also wizards, a bunch of pathers, and more HTers though.`

erm the oblations?? are necro casters, I cant recall wizs in basement. Yeah the HT mobs are areal pain to deal with....

imo duo with a necro or bard in basement is still worth the effort. Much easier CC

Golems much easier. Leave downstairs to necros

Oblations are wizards. Helot and hamal whatnots are necromancers. Entry/baesment and north only have wizards, the other wings have necromancers (actually I'm a bit hazy on what is in west, but I'm positive south and west are necros rather than wizards).

I would say let dogdog eat harm touches. But he is extremely annoying when root rotting.

How do you normally zone in here as a Shammy? I had the luck of getting double harm touched by two skeles last time I tried it.

Click the orb in OT while facing north, run up onto north stairs as soon as you zone in. Probably 3/4 of the time you won't get aggrod by anything cause they path near south+west mostly and are often LoSed by pillars.

If you're really concerned you can pull the scorp off the orb somewhere and root it, then zone into HS with IVU up (potion ftw) so that if there ARE 2 skeles you won't aggro them at all.

Catching 2 skellies up is really just some bad luck. They share spawn points with goos and devourers. Add in the probability that a group has come through in the last 20 minutes and cleared them...

I'd just recommend going in with stam/tal/regrowth up. 2 HTs is ~900 hp, which you should be able to survive with time to root park. IVU charges are 20pp a pop and I'm cheap.

I don't bother letting pet take HTs. Takes quite a few HTs absorbed to just make up for pets casting cost, and he's a pain in the ass the whole time.

I've been pulling with burst of flame. I'm not even keeping slow mem'd, lol. Burst of flame is perfect for pulling, and it's actually great for breaking poorly placed roots. Sometimes people will zone in and aggro an entrance spawn before I get a chance to pull (busy with 4-6 other mobs). If they root, I can call my camp, epic dot, then burst of flame til root breaks and reroot where i want the mob. Way better than hoping they root it safely out of range of east pather.

or you could try the communication method....

/w charasis all

lProbable that the peeps between 50 -54 are hunting near zone in.....send tells and ask.
Its possible that folk doing basement, will head back to zin area and clear it for you....ask nicely )

IF noone is clearing ent than, resort to methods above and hope!
