I have read all the info on the wiki and searched through the forums but there doesn't seem to be a clear answer.
I currently have a iksar shaman @ 21 that I choose because of the looks but even while leveling I was wondering should I have rolled a ogre.. since I read the solo artists challenge thread I know Svenn is a barb (no stun immunity and no regen) and is the only God shaman through pure skill.
However I doubt I am or will ever be @ that level so need all the help I can get. Living in the UK I doubt I will be able to get raid gear that easy (dunno what the raid scene will look like in 3 months) but I do know that this is gonna be my main toon (will delete my other 5 alts) and have loved playing the shaman so far on my iksar.
I really want to get this right and the sole purpose of this toon is to get 60 and do the solo artist challenge, and ofc enjoy the run up to 60 and make some friends whilst doing it :)
any input would be great and thanks in advance.
EDIT: this is taking velious gear into account :)

Pretty sure that guy has puppet strings, which >>> any racial bonus.
You've got a very long way to go until 60, and iksar regen will help you on the way. You won't have JBB, but that's fine because you won't be able to afford one during the levels where it's most useful.
Talk to some 60 iksar shamans online and see how they feel. I asked one in my guild, and he straight up loves his. He's duo'd fungi king, etc., so if he's not min/maxed, he's still extremely OP.
When velious comes out, if you're 60 and dedicated you'll max your stats, and the iksar AC/regen bonus will put you over the top of other races.
If you're worried about performing well solo at 60 rather than getting there more easily, then I'd go ogre. Iksar AC bonus won't make a big difference (AC on this server doesn't make a big difference, period), and the regen bonus won't make a big difference once you have Torpor. On the other hand, frontal stun immunity will help you a lot if you're trying to solo difficult monsters.
Also, don't delete your alts! You never know when you'll want to play a different class for a little while. Why put your future self through the trouble of releveling a character when you could have one ready to go at whatever level they are now?

they are all level 20 ish the only toon I have loved from level 1 is the shaman. The torpor point is the one I have just read about several pages into this forum and was about to ask that very question.
If I was to go ogre I assume that it would be +5agi +25wisdom ?
thanks again for both your input so far.

YOu dont need stun immunity till 50+ Untill you can solo summoning mobs.
Other races can solo just fine without it.
barby, ogre, iksar are all viable options for differnt reason.
yes at 60 barby is the weakest, but you will reach 60 5 or more lvls faster than the other races.
Personally i luv troll looks, but am planning to make a troll sk, so no point making troll shm too.
IF you have alot of play time, try out each race...IF limited play time, then probly choice would be:
Ogre

There is no clear answer that why you didnt find one. What it comes down to for the solo challenge is how good of a player you are and do you have the right tools at your disposal. If you have all the toys in the game but your not that great a player your not gonna succeed. Some people will say troll, some will say ogre, some will say iksar. Refine your skills as a shaman and play it to the best of its abilities and it really wont matter which race you pick.

thanks all for the input, I have been going to and throw for the the last few days and think what it come down to is the frontal stun, it is an ability that cannot be replicated with gear (regen can).
but as Bongs said the most important factor is skill.
would the wiki be right when it comes to +5agi and then +25 wis for a ogre ?
the wis > sta debate on the wiki is worked out at level 40 is this the same at 60 or does the diminishing returns get worse over the caps ?
thanks again in advance

Stamina gives worse returns for investment than wisdom does, even if your wisdom is over 200. Unless you're an iksar or barbarian stick your points into wis, not sure what the consensus is for those races.
I would go all WIS if you can; if you have extra points, put them into STA I guess. As a shaman you have AGI buffs so you don't need to worry about being below 75 AGI.

Exactly, definitely don't put any points into agi!
Just remember the regen from the iksar/troll makes leveling a lot easier and makes your class more efficient early on when you get canni.
The stun immunity from ogres is really nice, I get stunned all the time trying to land a root, and later on (taking damage = less mana) so there is an argument to be made about ogres efficiency also.

You need to have 75 agility or you take a mad terrible AC nerf until you get to that level. On an ogre you definitely want to make sure AGI is at 75 because its just not something you want to think about unless you know for a fact that your going to bum rush to end game and know exactly what end game gear you are going to wear and that there is +5 agi in that gear.
IMO.
Ogres are insanely the best, its not even a competition. When dungeon crawling I can channel through the hits of like 4 mobs but not when I get stunned, and its very easy to get into a corner in dungeons. Its an incredibly useful skill and their base stats are just fantastic. I'd go full wisdom once 75 base agility is achieved because their other stats are so solid and offer such limited returns that its basically dumb to dump into them.

Yeah I guess buffing yourself constantly with AGI would be annoying to avoid the penalty. Also, I wish I went ogre, that sounds so boss backing yourself into a corner and being able to cast away.

It isn't like it makes you some kind of super boss invincible bad ass, it just helps, and is worth it.
Only other choice for me would be barbarian so I can enjoy the game as a non KOS hero as opposed to being sloppy droopy scum.
In the end shaman is an awesome class no matter what race and no matter where you allocate starting stats.

I have played both troll and ogre shm, and my wife currently plays a barb shm. IMO Ogre > iksar > troll > barb.
But as others have said, the shm class is really strong, especially at higher lvls. No matter what race you choose, you will be fine.

If it makes you feel any better I rerolled from a 29 barb shammy to an ogre shammy earlier this week. I've been through a ton of threads on the forums here and there were too many posts with people saying they would have went ogre if they had to do it all again. Seems to be the strongest choice for those that plan to solo and farm a lot which I plan to do with the shammy being my main.
If I had already went through some of the hell levels 30, 35, etc on my barb I probably wouldn't have done it since the higher levels take significantly longer to get through. I'm already 16 on the ogre and I feel like I made the right choice.

Welp, you guys better reroll because to quote my buddy, Blart: (http://www.notacult.com/guide_trollshaman.html)
Race conclusion:
Troll by far. The two most important racial abilities for the PvP shaman are (in order): Slam, Natural Regen. You might point and say, "but but but, BLART! Trolls have shitty wisdom! And and their resists, well um, they suck cack!!" But you'd be wrong. Read the stats again, and whisper to yourself, "trolls are the best, they really are the best, better than rest." If that doesn't work, go write your own damn guide to misinform the world about the superiority of your effeminate barbarian.

Ogre sham makes life so easy. Would I reroll from 60? Sure.
I abandoned a 60 de cleric after the hide nerf for a hobbit, in VP gear etc .

Troll all the way for 3 huge reasons...
Racial Regen- This is HUGE when canni dancing...
Most people are INCORRECT on how ogre stun immunity works... Yes its great on tanks so they dont get stunned.... However if you get bashed it doesnt matter if you get stunned or not your spell does get interupted....
Reason three, and the biggest reason of all... http://wiki.project1999.com/Regent_Symbol_of_Innoruuk
I am still in awe that this item was put in the game....
Dev one: What can shaman not do
Dev two: rez, port and snare
Dev one: fair enough.... http://wiki.project1999.com/Regent_Symbol_of_Innoruuk
barb JBB+barb spirit hammer procs in between is pretty OP
if you get bashed it doesnt matter if you get stunned or not your spell does get interupted
Not true most of the time. As an ogre, if you're bashed, you only get interrupted as often as when you take any melee damage - by the time you're high level, this isn't that often.
