Not putting this out there as a serious proposal or in any way representing my guild here, just thought of this and felt like putting it out there.

The idea is a full rotation on all mobs. Here is how it would work: Each raid boss has a separate rotation, and each rotation goes through all guilds that have already killed that boss. When the boss pops, the guild whose turn it is has some designated number of hours to kill it (say 3 hours, or whatever number makes sense), after which it goes to the next guild in the rotation. There is one spot in the rotation reserved for Anyone Else. How that works is that none of the guilds in the rotation may engage the mob when that spot comes up for the same number of hours (3 hours); this gives guilds that have not killed the mob yet a chance to get themselves on the rotation. If it's not killed in that time, it's the next guild's turn, as per usual. A guild is removed from the rotation if it fails to kill a monster in the allotted time for some number of rotations in a row (maybe three in a row), at which point it can get back on again via the Anyone Else slot as usual. Repops function just like any other pop - whoever's turn it is has to engage the monster in three hours or give it up to the next guild. You might miss a kill or two if you get several pops at once that it's your turn for, but it should be doable to not miss a kill on the same mob three times in a row. The rotation is enforced either by GMs (suspend guilds that don't honor it) or players (blacklist guilds that don't honor it).

Seems simple and easy to follow. Obvious downside is that it completely destroys the possibility of competing for mobs. Personally I don't see the appeal in competition, but I know a lot of others do.
