I don't know what has suddenly come over me, but lately I've been a little interested in PVPing on red. I always figured that EQ PVP would be garbage, but I'm willing to give this a try. I created an Enchanter today and was leveling during the big war at Gorenaire, which sounded pretty neat. I've never played on an EQ PVP server though so I have a lot of questions...

Who is attackable? Everyone? Party members? Guild members? Can I be attacked in cities, will guards protect me? Am I ever safe from PVP? I did learn about LNS today, which I think is fine, but I saw a lot of QQ in OOC during the Gorenaire war about people calling LNS but still getting attacked. I don't see LNS working in large scale PVP and I think once you die in a giant battle you should just sit out until it's over... Expecting LNS in the middle of that type of chaos is just silly IMO (not looking to start a huge discussion about this).

Are player corpses lootable? Is there PVP EXP loss? Is there a TMO here? lol.

What about Teams? There was a Teams server on live wasn't there? But how are teams determined? What will be different from live teams vs Teams99? Will Red turn into Teams99, or are they going to be 2 separate servers? What's better, Red or Teams?

Last question, what is YT?

Thanks.

Red requires a radiation suit and leather skin if not don't bother.

Resistance builds up over time, you'll get used to it.

As a new player on Red myself, just turn off OOC (global chat) or move it to its own chat window altogether. It's the typical bullshit trolling/QQing/OneUpping/bringing up past shit you see in RNF forums, just in game. Doing so has made this place far more tolerable.

Yeah global ooc and also these forums are more toxic than the actual server environment...

I think the level range is +-4 levels at low levels. at some point it changes to +-6 and it ends up at 8. So a lvl 52 is a dangerous level as the lvl 60ies are now able to have their way with you. However you wont be loosing xp or items, bank your coins and you only loose the time of the CR.

There is also some play nice rules which have recently been applied. So continuous griefing is gone. This is good news for the new player. But has created alot of hostility in guild vs guild battles, find this drama elsewhere on these boards, its comprehensively covered and would be OOT here.

Id say this is a pretty good time to start here. Velious should be a couple of months away offering something to do for higher levels so should be able to level in relative peace.

It can still be somewhat difficult to find groups though, so pick some class that can solo if you need to.

Lol the fact that you can get killed while quadding and then got to Lns while your mobs are quaded and can't retaliate for 1 hour is a form of griefing. This being said I do understand the toxicity of mass pvp and these rules are needed.

It is easy enough to just gate and come back. It is hard to die in PvP if you can gate unless you are completely outmatched or someone sneaks up on you.

I am talking ganks or afk deaths. If you kill me 1v1 or 5v1 when not engaged on a mob I have no problems saying GG and moving along.

GM's don't magically show up and give both parties full hp/mana before fights tass. if you afk on a pvp server you know the risk you take, so do it wisely. part of the fun of red is knowing that at any time you might have to alter your normal play due to pvp, it makes you be more alert/cautious then the tedious grinding that goes on leveling on blue servers.

AFK death is afk death, can't say much about that. As far as ganks they are easy to avoid like I said. If you see someone coming you have time to react and get away even if a mob is engaged. It isn't tough to just out run and zone or gate.

If you just play and give it a try you will see. It may be tough at first when you are out geared and don't have things like jboots but soon enough you can compete. If you are out geared the rules actually help you out since you won't be corpse camped by people you have no chance against.
