View Full Version : Team PVP Server Related Question

New to Everquest in general. Was thinking about making a character on the Team PVP server when and if it ever starts mainly because I want to experience the game from the beginning. Being that it will be PVP related, what are the most powerful and least powerful pvp classes in your opinion?
- Try to keep the answer in a general sense (not like well for 2v2 or 3v3, etc.) and think of the question of being more of what classes will be mostly played compared to what classes will be least played?
- To make it more fun, list the classes from most played to least played.
I'm asking because I tend to play the least played classes in games or the less powerful option. Thanks for the help and opinions.

Ranger. Human ranger.
Any class can wreck havoc in pvp with a good player behind it and gear levels play a big role in your pvp class effectiveness questions.

The best way to get experience is to make a toon on red and play a while :)

this, and which expansion youre in will make a difference
it also depends on what the resist system will look like

how do you want to play is the biggest question, ask yourself that, don't want a lot of downtime, want a reasonably powerful class, like active play and melee/jousting? Monk?
Like a challenge, like to play sneaky, fight dirty, use every trick in the book, want to be the best of an elite crowd? Rogue?
Like support, don't want to see your friends die or go solo? Play a druid, cleric.
conversly for int casters... ench is like the rogue of ench, while wiz is more like the monk/war of casters etc
Casters are completely different to play, you have very little damage taking ability and you must play much more cuatiously for that reason alone, it's really easy to die in a few nukes/hits even with really great gear as a caster. Every fight is a decision. An FM wiz is dangerous, but once OOM you have 30 minutes to go sit and rebuff before you make your next move. It's a way slower paced game as long as you can avoid getting 2 shotted.

Your word per post count is sickening. I thought you had got a job? You stopped posting for two days then starting spewing your diarrhea all over the forums after that small break. Did you get fired because you are quite possibly a serial killer who likes sheep pussy?

Good info so far, seems like there are just different play styles then huh. From the [ost from pudge, was it that human rangers are not that powerful and not played that much as a result?
Also, any1 know if there is a site that post the races and classes on red99? It would give me a good idea fo what is played the least. (please link) Thanks for posts so far.
I am thinking about making a toon on p99 to try it out, probably will get raped constatntly lol with no friends. If any1 is interested in leveling up one together, let me know.

Rarest class is rangers by far. Then prolly necro, then mage. After that maybe enchanter and tanks, especially hybrids.
Ranger is a decent all around class at 60. Not much burst dps, but some healing and great buffs. Will be pretty great in pvp in velious with a good bow.
Necro is going to be a great class for pvp once resists are fixed, as life taps and dots of mostly unresistable. Also good for solo or group pve. Not so amazing for raiding but always useful if you dont mind spending 90% of your time casting dmf and pumping mana to other buffers/healers.
End the end, play what you like and plan for the long term. If you only plan on playing casually, casters are best. If you like to raid and group, tank/clr/melee dps will be best.

Interesting, so magicians and necro's are not that powerful huh? I heard about the resist thing in the discussion. What is the problem with resists, are they too over powered or vice versa, I guess in the discussion they assumed the listeners were all veterans of this game (which most are, I always seem to be the only noob)

Resists are too underpowered currently. Takes over 100 in any resist to even have a chance at a partial, and even with 150+ spells can land for full.
Magicians are currently pretty powerful if played right (theres been very few good mages on the server), but will become less powerful and will be more dependent on malo on the future.

Ranger's currently are the weakest melee choice, but not by much, you can compensate with skill and gear and teamwork. I'de say if a ranger played vs an even skilled and geared SK or monk, it would probably be a total 5% difference in power, but that 5% will make or break a 1v1 fight when no one makes mistakes.

I played Oblivion for over 200 hours and I have 140 hours logged on skyrim. TESO looks fucking sweet and while its not being developed by Bethesda it IS being published by them so the quality assurance behind the product is still there. I really have no issue with paying a monthly fee either because F2P MMO's draw such a shitty community to the game that I would not want TESO being ruined by a plethora of shitty 14 year olds complaining about not having a dungeon finding tool. I actually prefer having a monthly fee. Keeps a lot of trash away. What worries the most about TESO is the console release. I just don't know if a real quality MMORPG can coexist on the PC and console platforms without a whole lot of compromise.

I have a few different things I wanted to announce today.
....
....
....
Velious
Speaking of velious, I know you guys have been asking for an update. I plan to make a more accurate announcement at some point but Velious development is proceeding well and we may be opening Beta within a few months. Stay tuned.
Teams99
Unfortunately due to the efforts to bring Velious development to a close, we have decided to postpone the Teams PvP Server. Alecta (He's having hardware issues right now but will be back soon) and other staff members will continue to work with the PvP community on figuring out the best ruleset and implementing the mechanics for the new server.

Yeah teams inc and will have item loot so maybe will be a good server from the get go if staff learns a lesson or two.
All classes are good, but it really does depend on your own personal goals.

Did you beta test it?
That game is fucking horrible, i stopped playing after 2 hours on Friday, and then thought oh why not give it another shot on saturday and lasted one hour.
Going from sandbox to quest hub zones, oO wtf
I was like, Oh ill play an evil dark elf mage, cool! I was totally into it.
They drop you in some fucking hermetically sealed village and if you dont extinguish flames burning in the village houses like a good character would do, youre not getting out of there, ever. Talk about immersion breaking
