After 5 years on the mac server with a raid rotation agreement i can unequivocally say that a raid alliance is a horrendous idea.
Why? Glad you asked.
Classic EQ when reduced to its most fundamental element is fun because of the competition and freedom aspect of the game.
Forcing a rotation eliminates one of the most basic attractions to the server, raid competition.
Creating this arrangement will make the world seem sterile and homogenized and will force guilds to play the game in a way that might not be suitable to their disposition. (it punishes those who put forth the most hours/effort)
Shackling hardcore raiders to a more casual style of play by force makes me less excited to play on this server and im sure im not the only one.
Incentivizing a guild to give up raid spawns to other guilds might have some merit, but forcing a guild into a play style that does not suit them is something that should never be done.
