OOC Needs To Come Out ASAP

I can't tell you how many tells I get a day from new players asking me is the server as bad as OOC looks. Between the death threats, e-peen contests, racially insensitive comments, the back and forth bickering, OOC has become a complete joke. It needs to be either policed by GM's, limited to something like once every 30 minutes, or completely removed ASAP.

Simple fix anyone above lvl 50 gets no global ooc at that point everyone has their grp of friends they lvl with and do not need ooc.

OOC is out of control but I do like having it. Honestly a time limit, handing out suspension or ban for especially egregious RL attacks, racial slurs or homophobic BS would go a long way. I sure hope there aren't any actual gay people seeing this shit that spewed forth on forums or in OOC. Sad part is it's all about the epeen and I doubt any of you are actually homophobic or racist and people just think it's funny. IMO should not be allowed to fly in global channels and should result in account suspension. On live anything of the sort resulted in 7 day suspension and ban for repeated offenses. Wouldn't take many bans for people to get the message.

Agree about it not deterring the hardcore pvpers but it definitely hurts reputation of sever and kills the enjoyability for a lot of people. I made a char on here over 1.5 years ago but it took eqmac shutdown (and HB inspirational posts) to get me to soldier past all the BS on the forums and hate in OOC. What I found is it is actually a pretty fun server but I see why most people never get to see that part. If you want more bluebies to pick on, clean up the act.

Only the trolls like it. A cooldown would make it much easier to police. Coming from a new player i keep it closed 90% of the time because it's rediculous. Also doesn't reflect well on server because most people in game are more respectable

Saw some opinions before, I would not mind a time limit per ooc message. Or ooc removed, and auction added for item sale/trades only with a timer as to how often you can send it. Or simply ooc, one message allowed every 5 minutes maybe? Might lead to some very long single messages, but at least it wont be as retarded as it currently is. The other night, There was literally so much ooc spam nonsense you had to make the chat box half the screen just to keep up.

You know I am not one to rush into agreeing with Andis, but I think ooc is good for server. It is not good in its current form and should be limited like most have suggested 1 ooc per character per 5 mins or so to allow trading and groups to continue as well as the occasional well thought out taunt instead of the constant spew of nonsense that currently fills it

If /ooc is that off putting to new players, have it be disabled until lvl 10, just like the ability to actually talk in said channel.

The staff could go one step further and have the /ooc filter automatically turned off when a player logs in. That way the channel is 100% voluntary.

This chat of mine was in response to what people said in OOC. Context I cannot accurately provide.

It could have been any of those, but not much more. Proud? Not really, but I certainly expected my ban to come in the form of disobeying pnp rules... not talking about it. I've seen a lot worse said than what I said in the one day I played here.

In short I support the idea of disabling global OOC. It would be a lot simpler than banning players who abuse it.

Only reason I can see to keep it in is so GM's can keep a log that can be used for grounds of more bans.

You're right. I went pretty far with my OOC over the span of about 1 hr. I was basically laying out that I would try to push the limits of pnp before a ban is given.

The only thing I am surprised about is that it was such a short limit. The story has some lesson in it somewhere that I'm sharing for, if not anything else, a warning to players here to keep their mouth's shut.

I'm posting in your OOC discussion to give an example of OOC that can get you banned no questions asked... and also suggesting OOC should be removed because that is what got me all hot and bothered in the first place. I didn't have a chance to break the pnp rules in pvp, I just talked about it (admittedly, to the entire server).

If global OOC stays, just keep in mind who you're talking to... everybody.

If talk about breaking rules/vulgarities are a big priority for the GM's, they should remove global OOC just for that reason.

Someone who really valued their character would not have said the things I said, but you can bet there would be punishment for those who say similar things in a toned down fashion.
