I haven't been around in several months since I've been playing another game, and probably won't be anytime soon since I'm a guild leader in it now... But I had some free time a few days ago and decided to check up on things. Normally I would poke around pretty frequently because I love my guildmates and intend on staying acquainted with them. But I just haven't had the time lately. So I popped in and it looked like there was a lot of crazy stuff going on lately... I won't get into it much but I am so grateful to hear that things have been moving in a positive direction. Guilds seem to be cooperating for the betterment of the server.
Honestly, I feel like in certain ways, the staff has been letting us down for a long time (don't jump the gun here, just hear me out). I don't think any of them were doing it intentionally. I think the goal of creating an exact replica of 1999 clouded their judgment when it came to some of the mechanics, namely for endgame. A great portion of the server has always wanted the staff to have more interference. But really, in 1999, staff had little to no relationship with players. It's hard to, since players and developers usually have different visions and goals for the game.
But now it seems like the staff has gotten a bit aggressive, and this is something I personally have been waiting for for several years now. The recent post from a staff member stating how they were disappointed in the players, and then the message threatening not to release raid content in Velious... was beautiful. You really don't know how happy it made me to read this. It suddenly made me take the server and the staff a lot more seriously.
After checking up on the latest news, I noticed something else. The server population was a lot higher than I remember it being for a while. I'm sure a lot of people are coming back after the recent changes. So here's the point of this post:
First of all, we need to spread the word. I'm sure all of us know someone who doesn't play anymore, especially due to certain detriments. And secondly, we all need to donate. Please don't think that your donation might be too small. You'd be surprised how far a few dollars will go, especially when dozens of people are handing it in. We really need the let the staff know how thankful we are for what is going on. Unfortunately I don't know of any time soon that I'll have the time to play, but I'm going to donate. I'm poor, so my donation will suck, but I love this server and want to show my appreciation for allowing me to experience this gem of a time capsule.
