Rogean mentioned removing raid content from Velious if things don't improve. Why stop there, let's remove raid content from Kunark and original EQ. Maybe only raid targets are spawned by GMs.

Raid scene here isn't classic either. The server I played on back in the day had a raid calendar. We didn't have a bunch of no life assholes cock blocking all the raid content.

The agreements your guilds came up with out of game have nothing to do with the content in game. My server for example it was all out racing for any mobs up once raid time began. Scout prior to raid - find targets, mobilize while assembling groups and engage while being raced or racing someone.

Personally I prefer racing guilds to content as it ads the complexity of logistics to the engagements but whatever. Beating Afterlife to NtoV or rushing to engage Emporer in SSRA with them breathing down our necks and pulling off a win by the skin of our teeth - these are the exhilirating memories that come from competition. Honestly if I wanted to stand in line to be handed something I would go to the deli counter instead of a game.

This is pretty much how it is here, though. Except you have no freedom of guild choice, you have to join TMO and while you're waiting in line for months to receive your 20 HP upgrade pixels you have to click a track button all day.

Well then we simply disagree with what is fun. If I wanted to compete against other players, I would join a PvP server.

Why play an MMO at all if you don't want to compete against others? Every single time you buy anything from a PC you're competing. When you got to a zone to xp you're competing.

Not at all. We have the freedom to contest any spawn we have access to we just have to sit there and wait for it to spawn. If any guild wants to do that they can do that - as evidenced by the guilds that do that.

How is it a competition when all you have to do is: /q , log in using a shared user name / password, perform your class role, Kill target, /q , log main (or alt 1-8) for loot. There is no race. No competition. Only grief for casual/semi-casual guilds.

You don't see that there is competition in getting FTE and having the logistical capability to do that smoothly? Besides thats not how it is on all mobs or even most.

Auto fire = no competition. Don't try to make excuses and make the raid scene out to be anything other than what it is. Garbage.

I do enjoy having a large uninstanced outdoor world with people going places, fighting things, selling things, fishing, tradeskilling, and generally just feeling like I'm immersed in a world. Do I feel like I'm competing when derv 1 is camped, not really, I just go to derv 2. There is enough non raid content to keep me quite happy. However, there is a reason that instancing has been put into all modern games. The majority of people don't want to compete with no life assholes that want to cock block the content.

Again you feel the need to insult people who prefer a different gameplay than you. Wether you feel like it is competing you are still competing you simply have more of a supply than at the raid level.

Elmarnieh, if you were racing Afterlife then you were on Mithaniel Marr. What was your character's name and what guild were you in, if you don't mind me asking? :)

Same name, same race, same class :)

I was in Primordial Fury and Coalescence...I was in for a long time so I'm prolly forgetting a guild or two.

I remember both of those guilds :) Specifically Primordial Fury! I was in Wisdom and we used to race you guys a lot. I was also in Vengeful Apathy (A.k.a Team Neversleep). The good old days :)

EQ use to require you to meditate while staring at a book. The majority of people preferred a different gameplay than what Sony designed. Guess what, they changed it. There is nothing wrong with questioning the game, now that's classic. Sorry for the insults, if people enjoy cock blocking content over and over and over, then their happiness is at the expense of the majority. EQ will be a lonely place if the 90% left.

Raid scene here isn't classic either.Variance isn't classic. As you see in a different thread, variance is actually screwing up the proposed rotation. If we are going to an enforced rotation and/or adding a rule like not being able to down a boss twice in a row, I think variance needs to be reconsidered.
The server I played on back in the day had a raid calendar. We didn't have a bunch of no life assholes cock blocking all the raid content. My server didn't have a raid calendar. It was cutthroat as hell and had real cockblocking. P99 is nothing in comparison. Most the guilds just got the scraps thrown to us. The #2 guild got its first Trak kill so late in Kunark it was a joke...

Once a week raid targets for all guilds makes the most sense to me. If once a week is too much, then once every two weeks or whatever.

Wisdom yup I remember seeing you guys on the march a few times. Nice to see some ole Mith Marr blood running around P99.

Just because people had things set up socially on their old server doesn't mean that will happen here not even close to happening and being enforced by GM's. What classic is is the coding - not the social norms. Many servers didn't exist as yours did and wanting the GMs to enforce the way you remember your server being. And because you aren't getting your way you castigate others who play differently and played differently on other servers.

You pretty much want a server forced your way regardless of the degrees of freedom that actually existed on live EQ back in the day. It really is nothing more than you want to force everyone to play your way which is immature and self centered.

You're threatening something that will take away one of my fav forms of entertainment. Watching the spin machine in action. I might be on the other side of the table, but man they are fun to read.

No kidding. Forum porn here the last two days is in the same league as EVE Online, quite an accomplishment.

How can Rogean assess the behavior of the P99 guilds is there's no raid content enabled?

Yeah what people have been doing as the norm certainly is. People who post replies like this deserve a nice week long ban.
