First of all, this isn't a flame / whine thread. I'm having an argument with some guildies and i want to sort this out. Also, I did search for this and didn't find anything - if this has already been discussed please just post a link to the thread rather than crying about why I didn't search.

Now, on to the problem - DOES PING / CONNECTION SPEED HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOUR CHANCES OF GETTING FTE WITH MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF PEOPLE (100+)?

To my understanding, there are really 2 methods of trying to get FTE.

1. Tab as soon as you see spawn and do something to get aggro.
2. Have auto-attack on and spam nearest target. (Superior method IMO).

Now, with method #2, I am aware that you're essentially gambling by having your auto-attack already going and hoping that the mob pops right before your swing (faster delay = more swings = better chances).

Anyway, I think that your ping definitely plays a role in using method #2. If it doesn't, can you explain to me why?

It used to be less when mobs insta agro'd someone in their range as soon as they spawned. Now ping likely has a lot more to do with it but when there are 100+ people in zone spamming it can be a crap shoot.

all things being equal your ping affects everything you send from your machine to the game and vice versa. so yes, if your reaction time (or ability time, as in case of auto attack=weapon delay) is faster than your ping time then the ping is going to be your bottle neck.

its the same in any online game. your ping can give you an advantage.

Mobs don't agro anyone for like the first 3 seconds. So with 100+ people waiting to engage that is never going to happen.

To the OP, ping definitely matters. Option 1 in your list isn't really an option for anyone who wants to get something when spawn time is known. Also I think you are mistaken about how autoattack works, but not really going to get into this further.

My government machine currently operates off the backbone coming out from NORAD in the xxxxxxxx mountains. My ping time is negligible, since for all intents and purposes, I *am* the internet. Guilds rent me out to get fte pretty much guaranteed. It's not complicated once you learn the buttons to push.

Isn't it the Cheyenne mountains?

Anyone living in the North East is going to have a better ping than Colorado >_>

How? It definitely doesn't swing immediately once a target is acquired 100% of the time.

not going to confirm or deny it is the Cheyenne Mountains. Just saying, my ping time is military grade. And I'm for rent I'm a ping whore.

it doesn't rlly relate directly to the question in the op, but i've wondered about how the first attack on autoattack works as well before.

NORAD confirmed just a RMT rat's nest. Don't tell the Tea Party.

Let's say your delay is 20. When you turn on auto attack, you try to swing every 2 seconds (you can see this by having auto-attack on while not having a target, you'll get a message). When you acquire a target, you won't attack until your next swing.

I wondered the same thing. Seems TMO has players who live right near the data center because they always get FTE even if out numbered by 3:1. To get FTE multiple times in a row with 150+ people in zone is impressive. /tinfoil hat comment or is it.

what if they worked at the data center?
