View Full Version : OUTLAW ZONING FOR REAL

First of all I wanted to let it be known that I'm obviously onto something with this zoning ban as my post was deleted and today on the way to work some guy almost dropped ice cream on me. I know you got a hit out on me Rogean but I'm not afraid I will fight for what is right. To re-iterate my story I gotta go back into the dark place and a dark time for an exp warrior but hey man I'm doing it for the community I cannot be silenced.

Now I'm definitely a reasonable guy with reasonable demands, so me and my group of 6 warriors was fighting around and defeating the orcs and saving norrath, the usual, well more accurate just one of the warriors was fighting and the rest of us were bandaging him so things were going pretty good when all of the sudden the fighting warrior starts running away. Now I'm a warrior of action and I don't bother with reading chat or any of that nonsense but I noticed my exp bar wasn't moving so something was obviously wrong. Now of course I start swearing in chat and telling this guy to stop running away, first off I can't bandage him and secondly I'm having to push way too many keys to keep up with him what does he think this is DDR?

So I stop running after him because my finger is tired when out of nowhere his monsters start attacking me, he ran through an invisible wall and completely lost agro which is an obvious train exploit and needs to be put an end to now. Not sure why this hasn't been addressed.

Anyway he comes back and I can only imagine the distress he caused in Gfay using the same agro dropping exploit but I'm pretty certain a lot of players suffered and personally I thought he should've been reported but I had bandaging to get back to. We get back to the camp and me and the other warriors tell this guy that no matter what happens he better not run again, we high five and agrees and reminds us we are the best players in EQ which we all agree. We get back to fighting when suddenly I run out of bandages so I start ducking and standing back up so he won't notice and I tell the other warriors to do the same, anyway this fucking warrior has the nerve to fall unconscious. I shout in group that if he zones I'm going to really petition him this time and he ignores me and continues with the agro dropping exploit. His monsters attacked me and the rest of the group and we were forced to fight back.

Firstly, tell me why this hasn't been addressed and why an exploit like this was even put in game. A few reasons to get rid of zoning:

1: Increase in crafting and banking
2: Lore embraced as people spend more times in cities
3: Revitalization of noobie zones
4: Player communication increased
5: Less rats in the cities (armadillos in oggok)
5a: Less disease
6: Server power consumption reduced
7: Global warming halted
8: Ice caps don't melt
9: Polar bears don't drown

How high could someone technically level (grouped) in Greater Faydark? Are there enough NPCs in Kelethin, along with the faeries to get into the 20s if a group didn't care about faction?

I hate tree city. Hopefully someone finds out and murders all the elves. Took me like half an hour to find the warrior guild when I decided to train there.

If I'm not mistaken, you could actually get to 60 without leaving gfay. Normal crap to upper teens/low 20's, couple of 25 bards in the zone you could kill to low-mid 30's, and guards go from upper 30's to 50.

I love the idea of leveling a char as high as possible without zoning! Gfay would be the only option I think, and bard sounds like the best option, right?

I would like to apply for an outlaw zoning permit so I can store my vagabonds in a specific area without violating any ordinances.

Grouping in Everfrost could take you to 50 classic, obviously higher with Kunark.

It would probably be rough when you make the jump between killing mammoths and starting on ice giants though. Not sure if the icy orcs drop raw-hide or ringmail as their best armour, but it will be scary facing giants in that armour at ~lvl 36 with only shaman to heal you :D. Unless there is a camp in the ice caves you can do after levelling on orcs/mammoths but before giants?

I'd say, since you can only buy poison/disease related spells in Everfrost!

It would mean zoning to/from Halas though.

If the wiki page on GFay is correct it should be possible to go to 60 I think, but it would probably require a group, at least from like lvl 30-40 or something. Best class to level would probably be a bard, but you would have wasted your bard faction before you got all your skills... A druid/rogue duo should be able to get to 60 with snare kiting the roughest levels though I think.

Nice idea. I'll be in the qeynos aqueducts. See you suckers when I'm 60.

Oh dang, you got me... yeah I don't think spamming innerfire would be quite enough heal :D

Do characters actually start there or do you have to zone in from the start point? I remember on live levelling my shaman against Argyn Shieldstan and the spectres :D

I'm not sure which characters, if any, start there. I reckon it's one of the only zones in the game you could go from 1-60 though.

Laughing my ass off over this post. Keep up the good work.
