How do you refer to people?

It's situational. I usually refer to people by their main's name. However, if we are in a group or with others who don't know who their main is I will probably just use their alt name if they are on one.

Using the name of whatever toon they happen to be on is considerate to the people that haven't yet figured out who is who. Hearing someone referred to in vent/chat by a name that isn't on the group/guild list atm can be really confusing.
