Trak Shrooming Clears Aggro and/or Resets FTE

Is this functioning as intended? I got shroomed the other night for the first time in over a year probably, and as soon as I did a new FTE message fired. I was alive for 54 seconds between getting shroomed and dying, and at least 2 FTE shouts went off before I died, and I never FDd or got CoH'd in that whole time.

The encounter log is unfortunately not helpful, because FTE kept bouncing around for another minute or so after I died.

Is this a problem with the FTE message script, or is getting shroomed clearing aggro a la Call of the Zero?

From what I understand, Trakanon's Touch should clear aggro. The FTE script fires on EVENT_AGGRO, so as soon as someone is ported, they are cleared of aggro.

If this is not correct, need some more input to consider how to modify it.

Trakanon's banish should not clear aggro. However, from his spawn to his banish point - he should not chase said person. There is a distance limit on physically chasing aggroed players. When these players return to under the distance cap, the NPC will chase the player again. For Trakanon, the distance cap was around the front/gate Juggs.

Source: I soloed Trakanon every day from PoP to OoW (I made a bard lute to kill UDB Trakanon too). You had to pull him to a cleared shroom room with all shrooms around the area being non-cleric ones.

Live is free to log into and UDB is always up, I can confirm this if you need Lord Nilberg.

Trak never lose agro after touch someone back in the day sks monks used it to get sumoned back after touch and solo trak way into pop.

the trick was always clean the shroom spot and then run to him and start the figth after he touch you u will get sumoned back.

later in game when they added mercs u just have to put merc tank cleric in the area to keep busy any possible mushroom

Trak used to summon me back after shrooming on live when soloing, or boxing it with low enough aggro on the 2nd box.

From past experiences I'm almost positive the assumption that Trak Touch drops aggro is incorrect. He has run through the walls into the maze far to many times to believe that it drops all aggro.

On project 1999 I have never seen mobs drop agro intra zone due to distance from mob.
On live with my bard it was common to be able to outdistance mobs and not worry about them chasing you down if staying in the zone.

Probably not. As far back as I can remember, he chased people all the way to shrooms on p99. Then again I wasn't at the first dozen or so to before he was tuned some more. It is most of the drama with trak engages and allegations of "training".

I always assumed he cleared aggro and trak running around was from the guy who tagged adds having secondary aggro on Trak. So he started running after the add guy.

Being shroomed has never cleared aggro in my experience; instead it seems to put the person shroomed at the bottom of the aggro list.

It does, however, effect the FTE shout - if someone is shroomed and someone else engages Trak, a new FTE message will be put out regardless of the fact that the shroomed person still has aggro.

It seems to me that everything works properly still with the exception of the FTE message re-firing on shroom. If being banished by Trak really is clearing the player's aggro (which it doesn't seem to) then that would also be incorrect.

There is no question that Trak used to (on P99) shroom the tank and chase him across the zone; it was probably the biggest challenge for an inexperienced guild when attempting Trakanon. If that mechanic changed... uh, I have no idea when. The last time I can 100% confirm without a shadow of a doubt was the day Ton Po's Bo Staff dropped, I'm sure somebody could tell us when that was. In the past year or so I've seen what appears to be shroomed players FDing and standing back up repeatedly, but there could be other explanations. It's rare to have situations where Trak running towards shrooms has no other possible explanations.

Kunark mobs always had a max chase distance. As soon as players got outside the range the mob would return to normal pathing. Once the player got within the range again the mob would continue pursuit. I and several others have mentioned it various times in bug threads.

If you're using Lucy as a source always remember to use the History page, not the main spell page. That said, Trakanon's Touch hasn't changed in any meaningful way since Lucy was created... but for future reference!

I don't think Kunark max chase distance, or lack thereof, is related to this since Trak banishes to, summons back from and will eventually path to shroom room the same as he did on live... I just threw it out there as a possible but unlikely issue for research puroses, as max chase distance did apply on Live but does not on P99. Like I said though I don't recall ever having the chance to observe max chase distance issues in dungeons on Live...

when i solo'd trak for my bard epic on live he shroomed me. i ran back and met his feet (all i could see) just past the jugs room with the lever door. so he definitely didn't drop agro

If a rogue opened with dueliat on p99 and got shroo.ed immediately at start of engage his aggro would be enough to keep him o top hate list even through the distance, i have done this before on rogue and been summo ed back. Issue is we have had 5 peope shroomed in such rapid time, we actually had 5 different fte messages in under 3 seconds. I also wish dt would extend encounter logs for 3 seconds so the guild who actually engaged first could continue engage and not be sniped. Seems would be easy to code a timer to hold encounter after mob dt or trak touch

WHen you talk about mobs losing agro based on distance within the same zone, it is called LEASHING. That game mechanic was not introduced in Kunark. It was more like Planes of Power or Luclin. Mobs should not lose agro on anyone in the same zone based on distance.

Trakanon touch (shrooming) does not / should not lose agro on the person shroomed.

On live the strat was to have a DA pally or cleric rush the lair while DA'd so he didn't get shroomed, then everyone followed in after to kill it on the bind spot (which was near the back of the lair) so it wouldn't gate.

On here if u willy nilly agro trak and get shroomed, he has no choice but to chase after you unless someone closer gets on the agro table. Which shouldn't be hard, because the AI of mobs have something built in that makes them to decide to attack a person that is closer to them on the agro list even if someone further away is a little higher on the agro list. The exception seems to be low hp agro, if someone has low hp agro, it overrides the proximity AI.

Trak touch being reset seems to be the big fuck up here. It should be timed reset instead of triggered by losing agro or whatever.

Also, if you are losing agro from the Trak touch, then that is also something that is fucked up and causing trak touch to reset.

If you used a bolt at max range and then ran away from the mob, you'd have so much distance by the time the bolt landed that you were outside the range that the mob could path to. It wasn't a loss of aggro, the mob just didn't know where to find you so it ignored you; if you got near it later it would remember you and come running. Does not function on P99. Not really relevant though.

Currently (pretty sure) Trak touch is a melee proc, so any round of combat can fire it. Procs don't have cooldown, if it should be a cast with a cooldown we'd need evidence.

Show us evidence of "leashing" during classic / kunark era. Not "I remember one time I made a mage on live and shot a bolt at a critter in dreadlands and it didn't come after me teehee"
