I cant seem to be able to see site on Explorer, but friend has np on Forefox. What can I do, if I prefer my Explorer?

This is only getting more odd hehe. After installing Firefox (being so annoyed of my Explorer that wouldnt show the site) and importing my favorites from Explorer, both Explorer and Firefox show the site np now. I feel a bit puzzled but righer in browsers, wich is a good thing 8)

But in the end it prolly had something to do with cookies. <3 Sirken, and I'm not a dude(!)

Is 67.23.190.73 the correct IP for the wiki?

If youre still having issues, consider changing your DNS settings to OpenDNS or the likes.

Same problem here.
Since the server down on tuesday I can't get the Wiki anymore. Using IE too.
Same with Firefox that's saying that the server is unavailable.
Damn annoying because without Wiki information on trade skills the game is (almost) unplayable.

It's loading okay for me, not sure what the problem could be :/

IE works fine. Keep using chrome you drones. bend ova for the data mine!

Edit your host file and add:

108.61.129.170 wiki.project1999.com

to it.

As Gematria hinted at, it's a name resolution problem. Oddly enough though, when I try using OpenDNS or Google public DNS from NSLOOKUP, the address still resolves incorrectly. When I use their nameservers at kloth.net , the address resolves correctly.

It's not your browsers. I just loaded it fine with firefox, chrome and IE9. It's most likely your DNS cache.

I just cleared the DNS cache (ipconfig/flushdns). No improvement. Neither of the 3 browser finds the page. Message is : server doesn't answer.

What part of "use an archived version" do people not understand? If you're doing anything other than checking EC prices its exactly the same :p

Thanks. This worked.
However as I am heavily tradeskilling, I was precisely using the Wiki to check prices too.
That's why I was (am) pretty upset that it suddenly stopped working on Tuesday and I can't get it back.
I am no computer specialist so I would imagine that there is (should be) a fast and easy fix for those who have the problem because not everybody has it. But I may be wrong.

What do you get when you do an nslookup on wiki.project1999.com?

DNS changes can take up to 72 hours depending on the TTL set and the last time you accessed the page, what DNS servers you use, etc.

Try using a different DNS server (like 4.2.2.2 or 8.8.8.8), flushing DNS and trying again...

Stop using Open DNS and Google DNS. Neither of these are resolving to the proper address. Use your ISPs DNS and if that doesn't work you can make a static entry in your hosts file as mentioned previously.

I had to add the ip and wiki.project1999.com to the hosts file, as well as flush dns.

But that fixed it so I imagine I just tryharded.

OK I really need to get the wiki back. It is almost impossible to tradeskill without it. What are the hosts file you are speaking of ? Could you explain in more detail what and where has to be done exactly ?

myriverse

The hosts file is a text file (but with no file extension), usually found at:
C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts

1. Open Notepad (run as administrator)
2. Open the hosts file.
3. Add the following line:
108.61.129.170 wiki.project1999.com
4. Save file.

It'll tell your browser to go to that location instead of looking the location up from an outside source.
