could do a similar loot system to Rallos even though u guys dont want to do that it would be simmilar as in 1 item loot and coins yes but allow the looting of bags to make it for people to not bag items cuz i would rather lose my Fungi instead of my mana stone and Aon in my bags or remove no drop from all items and let the people go crazy lol idk

I think if item loot is so amazing we should put it on r99 first. Surely the feedback will be positive and we'll know whether we should put it on t99 or not.

honestly looting items off people was worth it no matter the item knowing u took it from them just like disarming them as u killed htem to loot they primar ywep

Best way to do item loot would be

Loot 1 item + gold

no drop + magic bagged items + weaponry untouchable.

loot any nonmagic bag / inventory / equipped item

Sirken has stated item loot is in. We need to have meaningful discussions about it at this point, if you agree with it or not is of no consequence at this stage of the game.

And for the record, I am against item loot as well but that doesn't mean I think it's impossible to have a viable server with item loot enabled.

Being able to loot items characters are wearing will kill guilds like Azrael. I think a little tweaking needs to be done and there are really just two general directions to go with this, providing more armor you can wear that is no drop or limiting what can be looted.

With all item loot systems I would like to see bags have no effect on whether or not an item could be looted.

1) make more items no drop, sol temple quests, kunark armor pieces, etc.

2) limit what you can loot by slots
a) can't loot what people are wearing
b) character given 4-6 worn slots that they can choose as non lootable slots - this allows players to wear a couple of real valuable gear that they can't
c) a compromise on not being able to bag items - have characters start with a bag after character creation that can hold items and make them not lootable. You could even make the bag small with 4 slots.

I posted this somewhere and I didn't see much feedback on it.

Make PKs grant a token depending on level, like SZ had.

Tokens can be exchanged for gear. Gear would be copies of existing equipment but have a flag/prefix/suffix whatever to mark it as obtained via PVP. So maybe call it a "Fungus Covered Scale Tunic of Zek". Same stats, effects, etc. Items are non-drop.

Make the "of Zek" items lootable, regardless of inventory slot, bag, etc. Maybe even banked stuff. All normal items are non lootable like R99 is now. Coin loot regardless.

In my mind this does three things:
1. Limits PVP item drops to the realm of PVP.
2. Encourages PVP not only to acquire items off corpses but to get the items in the first place. Essentially turns red to blue. You could gear out a character by jacking people up.
3. Encourages people to wear their best gear, even if its an item they can lose to make PVP better and help to ungimp melees in an item loot situation.

people like the show iron chef so if we make the item loot food and water, people will be happy and bake/cook a lot.

I remember people fishing in beta to scrap together a few gold. Imagine if someone had their pole or grubs taken from them. That is brutal.

Does everyone realize what item loot teams will be? One team will have the most players and will be the only one with tanks, the other two will be naked druids and casters who won't have enough players to do anything but solo harass.

What happens after the novelty of item loot teams wears off?

Item loot isnt really that bad... players have the choice of what class they play... yes starting out being a melee will not be so fun... but once you have a balanced group and weps, melee that are geared and have resists will roflstomp the naked casters... so yeah if you are a melee and set on playing solo quest it will kinda of suck... I played a troll SK on Rallos and used a Mith 2 hander till level 50 or so... never had a problem leveling up and getting groups in my Basalt carapace, shin gear and whatever I had that I looted or PKed... if i was solo or in a PUG I wore only what I was willing to lose....

The awesome thing about item loot was the feeling I got from engaging in PVP... the pure adrenalin from being in the fight... the Agony of running back to my corpse thinking they will loot my prize X... when they actually looted my not so prized Y...

And better yet... when I did win... the rush and adrenalin of looking through their inventory and grabbing my first FBSS.... or killing a full Guardian Ogre SK and at the very very bottom... grabbing my very first Pre-Nerf Cos.... So... basically it would actually work better if planar Armor and Velious armor ( not the Uber Quests ) were dropable , lore and tradeable... so it would be no big deal... and guilds leveling up can take on a powerful raid guild and start to gear up during the PVP if they played welll.... and it would stop the top end team from being able to send in their level 60s fully geared into newbi zones with nothing to lose... And if things were hopeless, Bag / Bank your gear and go PVP with what you are willing to lose.... Especially considering the most important stats in PVP are MR, ( Mostly cheap items for a Melee... Skull barbute, 7 mr bracers, 9 mr neck.... then toss in 55 HP rings..... and a10 MR mantle.... ) with old world resists... you are pretty much good to go.... or use Blackened Iron / allow gear.....

Casters... pretty much the same thing... PVP gear is mostly cheap and easy to get....

its not bad in the sense of pvp balance or fairness or fun, its bad in that it is a deterrent for a sizable percentage of the population to join the server at all.

You'll notice that no one is on here talking about the time they got PKed and lost their Fungi. You you know why? Cuz that guy probably smashed his computer with a sledge hammer and never played EQ again.

Item loot is zero sum. Every time you loot something, another player loses it. It's a recipe for rage quitting. On a server that needs every warm body it can get, why are we even considering a rule set that will encourage rage quitting? And this, remind you, is among a server population that would already take the plunge and play on an item loot server. Most people wouldn't even bother to begin with.

The whole idea is just flat-out stupid.

I played on Rallos. As a random PKer item loot was the only way that I could gear up. The vast majority of pvp was nuking someone while they bagged everything as swiftly as they could.

It doesn't hurt to lose what people will never have. But when Joe schmoe who is terrible at the game who we need so the server has any kind of population, loses his terrible gear that he feels he worked so hard to get, he's gone.

It doesn't really matter how well you or I play. The fact is that anyone who loses items is much more likely to rage quit the box. Even if you're killing people left and right and laughing all the way to the bank with bagfuls of looted items, the only thing you're actually doing is accelerating the death of the server by driving players away.

Which is why item loot is going to result within a few months in a 50 player server comprised entirely of Druids, Wizards and a few SKs who are more interested in talking shit and griefing each other (and plugging or gating at the nearest sign of a real challenge) than actually PvPing.

i think thats what they mean by 'for science'... i wouldnt be surprised if they make the worst ruleset in the history of mmorpgs just to test the hypothesis that certain peeps are gonna play anyway
